Recenzja Golgothan Remains “Bearer of Light, Matriarch of Death”

 Golgothan Remains

“Bearer of Light, Matriarch of Death”

Dark Descent 2024

(Czytaj dalej... / Read here)

Debiut SARCOPHAGUM za niecały miesiąc

"Vermiform" is the unsettling new single from Australia’s SARCOPHAGUM. The track, now streaming exclusively at Mystification, is the latest single preceding the band's debut full-length, “The Grand Arc of Madness”, nearing release December 6th through Nuclear Winter Records. Stream "Vermiform" HERE.

SARCOPHAGUM spawned to life in the early half of 2021, during the time of the plague as a new project featuring Golgothan Remains members past and present. The purpose being to provide a channel to explore new ideas and sounds in a studio-only setting. The dark death metal realm remains the primary influence and a debut EP, “Conduits to the Underworld”, was released in 2022 through Nuclear Winter Records, followed swiftly by a stand alone single, “This Wrought Creation”. Now their full length debut is here, “The Grand Arc of Madness”. Poised to unleash a soundscape of disharmony and terror over the listener, the angular horror awaits…

Both a culmination of their already characteristic aesthetic and a whole new twist upon it, “The Grand Arc of Madness” sees SARCOPHAGUM fusing clanging angularity with haunting atmospherics, chaos with eerie melodicism, epic narrative with primal crush.

Mixed and mastered by Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios.

Cover art by Khaos Diktator.

01. Ritual Pillars Burn
02. Feudal Futures
03. Vermiform

Nowy numer PERDITION'S MIRE

Today, Danish black metallers Perdition's Mire premiere the new track "Light Torn Asunder" at the Into The Necroscope YouTube channel. The track is the second to be revealed from the band's highly anticipated second EP, Into a Dark Heartland, set for international release on December 13th via Headkick Music. Hear Perdition's Mire's "Light Torn Asunder" in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Perdition's Mire was born from the restless souls of three individuals in Fredericia, Denmark, during the cursed year of 2020. The band's goal was, and remains, simple: to channel personal darkness through the medium of black metal.

In early 2022, the EP The Doctrine of Losing Life was unleashed in digital and self-released MCD formats, containing six ice-cold hymns of darkness and death. The release was recorded at The Dark Room Studios and engineered, mixed, and mastered by Ralf Rendigs.

A considerable amount of time was then spent crafting new material with greater attention to detail. The culmination of these efforts was another six-track EP, titled Into a Dark Heartland, once again recorded at The Dark Room with Ralf Rendigs. Into a Dark Heartland spits forth the malicious venom of six varied black metal psalms in the old spirit, clocking in at 26 minutes. During this studio session, an exclusive song for a forthcoming Danish compilation LP was also recorded.

The new material presents Perdition's Mire with sharpened talons and teeth, showcasing more aggressive, personal, and focused songwriting while maintaining a somber and pitch-black atmosphere. A deal was made with Danish label Headkick Music (run by old friend Ustumallagam of Denial of God fame) to unleash this beast on vinyl and CD format on Friday the 13th of December 2024.

No time is wasted, as the band is already hard at work on a full-length album, building on the style presented on Into a Dark Heartland. Silence is golden, and bleak is the future!

Debiut ZÉRO ABSOLU w styczniu

Today, AOP Records announces January 31st, 2025 as the international release date for Zéro Absolu's highly anticipated debut album, La saignée.

Zéro Absolu's roots go back to the French band Glaciation; in fact, the band is a continuation of that hijacked moniker. Glaciation was a project founded in 2011 by François Duguest (instruments) and Jean Valnoir Simoulin (vocals, art direction). The group then expanded to include Hugo Moerman (who became the third permanent member of the group), the two main members of Alcest, and Lychar.

In 2012, Glaciation released the album 1994. The lyrics nostalgically and bitterly revisited Valnoir's experience within the black metal scene throughout the '90s. Valnoir temporarily left the band in 2014 and was replaced by RMS Hreidmarr.

In 2015, Glaciation released the album Sur les falaises de marbre through Osmose Productions. Due to alcoholism issues (among others), Hreidmarr was later removed from the band. He then decided, without informing anyone, to assemble a new lineup and illegally registered the name "Glaciation" with the French Institute for Intellectual Property.

In 2023, the core of the original Glaciation lineup - obviously, without Hreidmarr - accompanied by a member of Regarde les hommes tomber and another from Alcest, recorded a new album: La saignée (English: "The Bloodletting"). The lyrics take the form of a pamphlet confronting the enemies of the band and the metal scene in general. In 2024, to put an end to the drama, they decided to rename Glaciation to Zéro Absolu and signed with AOP Records.

The bittersweet fruit of this union, La saignée is a masterclass in nostalgic, mid/late-2000s French black metal. Highly melodic and melancholic, dreary yet dreamy, epic and impassioned in equal measure, Zéro Absolu extend the original Glaciation aesthetic to one that recalls classic Mortifera or pre-shoegaze Alcest. But with both songs in the double-digits - the opening title track tops 20 minutes, while the second is a mere 13 minutes - La saignée roams territory totally its own, even incorporating stained-glass synth interludes that make their hysteric black metal all the more majestic and mesmerizing. Glatiation is dead: long live Zéro Absolu!

In the meantime, hear the aforementioned title track "La saignée" HERE at AOP Records' official YouTube channel. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Trzeci album URFEIND w styczniu

On January 10th, 2025 internationally, Nine to Zero Productions is proud to present Urfeind's highly anticipated third album, Dauþalaikaz, on CD format.

Founded in 2015 and led by vocalist / guitarist Skadwaz, Germany's Urfeind have studiously crafted a brutal style of black metal grounded in intense thematic exploration. First came 2018's Swartaz Dagana debut album and then Þurisabloþa two years later, both full-lengths establishing the band's signature intensity by blending rugged soundscapes with depth and darkness. Thematically, both albums ushered forth a unique mix of Thursian themes (dark Germanic heathenism), misanthropy, and Anti-Cosmic Philosophy. In 2021, Urfeind released the Wraiþaz demo EP, intensifying those themes further.

Now, Urfeind are set to unleash their grand culmination of sound and thought with Dauþalaikaz. Those already familiar with the band will recognize that the four tracks featured on Wraiþaz have been re-recorded here with enhanced aggression and power, comprising the second half of Dauþalaikaz. But more than re-establishing Urfeind's not-inconsiderable strengths so far, Dauþalaikaz creates an all-enveloping headspace rife with rising & falling riffing - martial yet melodic, mesmerizing in every way - and propulsive battery that establishes movement and malice without over-reliance on blastbeating speed. Not to say that Dauþalaikaz isn't without its up-tempo moments, but rather that Skadwaz's focus is on strident songwriting: introduction of theme, extension of theme, pulverization of theme. As such, it's not difficult to get caught within Urfeind's hypnotic slipstream; intensity is fully present, as equally as artistic growth. The album's simplicity is tastefully subtle and extremely nuanced, its inexorable brutality belying the deep exploration of anti-cosmic perspectives and the shadows within.

While much of the modern German black metal sound either gravitates toward Dark Funeral-influenced overdrive or a Finnish-inherited sense of melodicism, Urfeind's particular brand of black metal harkens to other brutal-but-subtle outliers like Hate Forest, Arckanum, and Triumph, Genus - but Dauþalaikaz is undeniably a steel-toed step in their own direction. Uncompromising and as philosophically grounded as ever, the new dawn belongs to Urfeind!

In the meantime, hear the brand-new track "Thorns of Madness" HERE at Urfeind's Bandcamp. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Debiut DRUPARIA w grudniu

Cleveland (OH) - Melodic Death Metal crew, Druparia, will release long-awaited debut full-length album, The River Above, on December 27!

The albums' first single, the title track, is streaming now on Bandcamp. Check it out at druparia.bandcamp.com/track/the-river-above

The word "Druparia" is a pseudo-synonym for the blackthorn plant that plays a part in some circles of occultism and witchcraft, and fits into the band's visual and lyrical themes of nature and mysticism. Other lyrical themes include sadness, regret, mythology, and perseverance through hardship.

FFO: Sylosis, The Absence, Light This City, Gates of Ishtar, and Skeletonwitch.

Nowy numer LURING

Today, American black metallers Luring premiere the new track "Born With the Devil's Marking" at heavily trafficked web-portal NoCleanSinging.com. The track is the second to be revealed from the band's highly anticipated third album, Malevolent Lycanthropic Heresy, set for international release on December 13th via Iron Bonehead Productions. Hear Luring's "Born With the Devil's Marking" in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Belonging to the Order of the Broken Sword circle which includes labelmates Azathoth's Dream and Wuldorgast, Luring made their public debut in 2018 with the Interitu Caret Devotione ad Coronam Satanas demo. From there, with the successive full-lengths Victory Fires Ablaze Under the Banner of Lucifer and the Iron Bonehead-released Triumphant Fall of the Malignant Christ last year, Luring have slowly-yet-assuredly become one of the most exciting developments in American black metal of recent years, effortlessly finessing a stridently classicist form that doesn't point toward preceding idioms too obviously nor overly.

Perhaps reaching their apotheosis of such, Luring now deliver Malevolent Lycanthropic Heresy. The trio's third album features much of the same foundation as its two LP predecessors - rippling physicality fused with otherworldly texture, inspired by contemporaneously early Abigor and Gorgoroth as equally as turn-of-the-millennium Nocternity and Lunar Aurora - but here do Luring intensify the extremes of their sound. On one hand, that physicality goes a more gutted direction, digging deep into sepulchral catacombs almost deathly. On another hand (and especially as the album plays on), their once-subtle melodicism goes to bolder lengths: some more melancholic, others more triumphant, but always with a fully developed narrative arc. Interestingly, half the album is given to instrumental tracks that aren't strictly "ambient" in the usual black metal sense(s), imparting haunting / alluring atmospheres that thread seamlessly into Malevolent Lycanthropic Heresy's overall sensory experience; however, there are touches of true ambient within the other four, otherwise-black-metal songs. Altogether, and armed with a cleaner and yet still-analog production, Luring render their third full-length a never-belabored masterclass in black metal both authentically ancient and refreshingly modern.

MUTAGENIC HOST zapowiadają debiutancki album

On January 3rd, 2025 internationally, Mutagenic Host will release their highly anticipated debut album, The Diseased Machine. The album will be co-released by Gurgling Gore (vinyl, cassette), Dry Cough Records (vinyl, cassette), and Memento Mori (CD). The CD version will be released on January 20th, 2025.

Mutagenic Host are a five-piece band hailing from London, as part of the New Wave of British Death Metal (see also: Coffin Mulch, Celestial Sanctuary, Slimelord, Vacuous, Mortuary Spawn, etc.). The group comprises members from various parts of the UK and United States. With a diverse background spanning the hardcore, black metal, and death metal scenes, Mutagenic Host blend hardcore sensibilities and groove with the heavy, well-crafted sound reminiscent of '90s Floridian death metal.

Mutagenic Host dive into a technological apocalypse, examining a world overshadowed by hypocritical, insidious, and murderous global powers. The band is deeply disillusioned with the traditional themes of death metal and hardcore, feeling that these subjects no longer capture the urgency of the present. Instead, Mutagenic Host tackle the modern-day specters of complacency, apathy, and the looming threat of AI. Their work is an allegory for the systematic industrialization of humanity’s eradication — whether by human hands or by the machines we create to snuff out life. In this narrative, the instruments of the state use AI to monitor, control, and suppress the population, sounding a warning of impending doom through a fresh, intense lens in the death metal genre.

In the meantime, hear the brand-new track "Incomprehensible Methods of Slaughter" HERE at Gurgling Gore's official YouTube channel. Preorders will begin on November 22nd. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Debiutancki album szwedzkiego Sickrecy rozpierdolił mnie w drobny mak. Nowy ERSHETU do odsłuchu

"It flickers.
Last glimmer,
Ultimate light.
Then nothing
...
So many questions,
So few answers.
It all ends tonight." ('Nenokatasukuni')

Building upon their opulent and darkly captivating debut "Xibalba", cinematic Black Metal ensemble ERSHETU – featuring composer Sacr, conceptualist Void (DMP), and lead vocalist Vindsval (BLUT AUS NORD, FORHIST) – officially release an intense and mesmerizing successor: "Yomi".

Centred around the concept of 'kami', the divine beings in Japan's Shinto tradition, the album is a rich tapestry of ritual percussion, orchestration and atmospherics. It interweaves the evocative sounds of traditional Japanese instruments such as the Koto and Shamisen with relentless, cerebral Black Metal.

The band commented: "'Storytellers of Lies' is a pure thrash track, fast and immediate, reminiscent of the classic Necrodeath sound from the very first note.
The lyrics, highly provocative, are a clear denunciation of the music business world. These storytellers, in exchange for money, offer you nothing but the false hope of stepping onto a stage you will never see...".

As previously stated, NECRODEATH have announced their intention to disband after one last album and a farewell tour in 2025.

The album will be the last recorded testimony before the definitive dissolution of the band. The release will be followed by a farewell tour, which will last throughout 2025. After which the curtain will fall.

W pierwszej chwili, kiedy spojrzałem na okładkę debiutanckiego krążka Putridarium, to pomyślałem o „Holocausto de la Muerte”. Nie sądzicie, że koncept graficzny podobny? This was the driving force behind the creation of LIQUID FLESH 10 years ago, In 2024. The band was tired of the long rehearsals and tedious composition sessions with their other bands, which made progress feel slow and monotonous. They wanted something raw, direct—a sound that embraced simplicity without pretension, perfect for the energy they were craving. This was the background to the band's debut album “Spontaneous Liquefaction”, released in 2016.

The band formula has been tightened up with the arrival of Putrid Bruce on bass and vocals, who has given the band a new lease of life: while retaining its original impact, the band offers more convoluted structures on “Chair Liquide” (2020, Metal is the Law Records) before moving on to a concept album with “Dolores” (2023, Time to Kill Records). Nonetheless, some tracks from the first album, like “Tenafly Viper” and “Human Soup”, have never left the band's setlist. For the band's 10th anniversary, LIQUID FLESH have chosen to re-record these tracks.

This anniversary is the occasion for an update. French lyrics having taken their place with the arrival of Putrid Bruce, the songs have been completely translated and reworked. The music has also been rearranged, but the biggest improvement lies in the mixing work of Gastric Luke, the band's jack-of-all-trades (that takes care of the composition, mixing, artwork…), who has gained 10 years of experience: the sound is more powerful, incisive and perfectly honoring the old-school death metal sound.

A celebration is never without its share of surprises: this is the opportunity to introduce the band's new drummer, Acid Bapt, with his precise and dynamic playing, who joined the band barely a year ago. It is also the occasion to pay tribute, with a cover of the classic Entombed track “Eyemaster”—also translated in French—and a new version of “Police Python 666”, originally recorded during the COVID period and released on the “We Are French Fuck You n°3” compilation.

With its EP “Vestiges Abrutissants” (mind-numbing vestiges), LIQUID FLESH offers us a link between its past and present history like vivid and meaningful memories observed in the rear view mirror. Take a seat, It’s time to open one again!

ATAUDES szykują drugi album dla Memento Mori

In their endless quest to push and support current underground acts that perpetuate the odor of vintage death metal, Memento Mori are extremely thrilled to announce a new signing: Ataudes, from Argentina.

The entity known as Ataudes was called forth in Buenos Aires back in 2019, out of a rabid desire to play blackened death metal pervaded by destructive riffs, blastbeats, and gut-wrenching vocals, and exhibiting a dazzling taste for haunting sections that create an eerie atmosphere that spreads through their music like a malevolent blend of all things morbid. From the high-speed rampages to the creepier slower parts, Ataudes have a brilliantly grim and defiling sound that hits all the right spots for old-school extreme metal diehards to feast upon. The band are recommended for fans Morbid Angel, Blood Incantation, Spectral Voice, Immolation, Dead Congregation, Krypts, and Incantation.

Ataudes' second full-length is due out on April 21st, 2025. Memento Mori will release the CD version, and Obscure Disharmony Records will take care of the tape version. Further details to follow in the coming months.
