On October 2nd internationally, Alte Seelen is proud to present Dumal's highly anticipated third album, The Trials of Existence.

Pennsylvania black metal trio Dumal - whose name comes from the Baudelaire book Les Fleurs du Mal ("Flowers of Evil"), meaning "of evil" - have been active in the USBM scene since 2013. With a handful of EPs and splits plus two full-lengths under their belts during the decade from 2013 to 2023, they’ve worked their craft into an amalgam of '90s Scandinavian ferociousness, Eastern European melody, and the brute strength of USBM, building a sound that is at once elegant and oppressive. With one foot deep in the past and the other foot firmly in the present, Dumal now unleash their new full-length, The Trials of Existence, via Alte Seelen on CD format.

Moving forward from the underground success of 2020's The Confessor (2020), Dumal return to deliver their most cohesive vision of darkness yet. Forging a deliberate strike point between Scandinavian ferocity and Eastern European melodicism, Dumal continue to reinforce the foundation of American black metal. For this upcoming release, the band has doubled down on their signature sound, stripping away keyboards in favor of raw, elegant guitar arrangements to weave a complex soundscape that is as caustic as it is soaring and beautiful. The new material delivers an exceptionally catchy sound that fiercely honors its underground black metal roots.
