Xenoglossy Productions, in collaboration with Hidden Rooms Recordings, is glad to present "Hidden Rooms Sessions I", the first chapter of a new trilogy by Tunisian black/doom metal project AYYUR.
Ayyur ("the moon", in Tifinagh: ⴰⵢⵢⵓⵔ) is a lunar deity worshipped by the Berbers during ancient times. In Berber mythology, the moon is associated with fertility, culture, beauty, the feminine and humidity, a symbolism confirmed by several studies of Berber myths and rites. The link with water and fertility during the new moon phase is even more present among Tuareg people, with evidence found by Charles de Foucauld at the beginning of the 20th century, in ritual texts carved on the rocks of the Hoggar Mountains.
On a musical standpoint, Ayyur veers into folk and ambient territories, with a melancholic Mediterranean desertic atmosphere. A counterbalance is provided by the project's signature black/doom metal approach.
In order to properly celebrate this release the EP is presented in a limited edition ultra high quality wooden box, handcrafted in Tunisia and including an A3 poster.
This special packaging aims to reproduce some of the Berber mysticism which permeates AYYUR's songwriting.
