Wspominałem kiedyś, że lubię splity. Często właśnie na tego rodzaju wydawnictwach można natknąć się przypadkowo na jakiś nowy, nieznany wcześniej band wart zainteresowania. Od klasycznych splitów jeszcze lepsze są 4-way-splity, i właśnie taki wrzuciłem sobie ostatniego wieczora na talerz. Mimo iż jest to materiał sprzed półtora roku, to dla większości jego współtwórców stanowi ostatnie dotychczas wydawnictwo w katalogu, stąd też chyba warto parę słów o nim wspomnieć. (Czytaj dalej...)

Z muzyką Bilwis miałem okazję spotkać się po raz pierwszy w zeszłym roku, przy okazji recenzowania Ep’ki „Sangewelt”, którą to na fizycznych nośnikach (Cd i Mc) wydała wówczas Northern Silence Productions. GRAVE INFESTATION w czerwcu wypluje debiut

 

Today, Invictus Productions announces June 3rd as the international release date for Grave Infestation's highly anticipated debut album, Persecution of the Living, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Formed in 2018, Grave Infestation wasted no time in making their presence in the underground felt far and wide. Recorded as a power-trio, the band's debut demo, Infesticide, was originally self-released in late 2018 and then picked up for wider release by Invictus. On evidence of that opening 23-minute salvo, it's not difficult to understand why: Grave Infestation wielded a gutsfucking sound that near-effortlessly synthesized every slice of darkness of death metal's pivotal late '80s era. Death metal diehards took notice, and then the second demo, Infestation of Rotting Death, consolidated that enviable standing, now revealing the band as a quartet.

Alas, as doom enveloped the earth, Grave Infestation was lurking in wait, brewing their full-length debut. And it arrives with the force of a nuclear payload in the form of Persecution of the Living. Reprising a couple re-recorded songs from the preceding demo, the presciently titled Persecution of the Living wastes no fucking time in getting in and absolutely flaying the listener alive. The foundation remains much the same - from the malignant tendrils Morbid Angel cast across the Tampa scene to the buzzsaw bulldoze of the contemporaneous Swedish scene, the ancient foundation of Necrovore, Repulsion, and Sadistic Intent to Carcass' godly first two albums - but Grave Infestation exhibit a frightening clarity in their jackhammering attack. Some could call it a "clean(er)" iteration of their strident sound; others might view that cauldron with focus and finesse, as eerie melodies occasionally bubble up from the muck; but whatever tag you put on it, Persecution of the Living represents a professional-yet-powerful statement to the wider metal world. Darkness, death, DOOM: herald the grand arrival of Grave Infestation!

Dziś premiera nowego krążka NEGATIVE PLANE

 

Negative Plane's third album, The Pact, is finally upon us after more than a decade of a wait!

Containing seven songs expanding on the "Faustian Pact" theme, The Pact explores the relationship between the divine and the demonic as a way to obtaining a greater glory.

The Pact was sealed at New Jersey’s Moonlight Mile Recording between November 2020 and February 2021 and then mixed by producer Mike Moebius in May of the same year.

The album is available digitally worldwide now - fittingly, on Walpurgisnacht - and will be available on CD and vinyl  from Invictus Productions and The Ajna Offensive once the pressing plant finally ships out copies to both labels and their distributors. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Teufelsberg to dość tajemnicza kapela. W zasadzie nic o nich nie wiadomo, poza tym, że pochodzą z Polski. W 2020 roku wydali demo, a rok później pojawili się z czterema kawałkami na splicie z portugalskim Minnesjord. Dzisiaj trzydziesty kwietnia, a więc czeka nas noc św. Walpurgii. Tych zespołów przedstawiać nikomu chyba nie trzeba. Zarówno Nunslaughter jak i Blood to klasyki, datujące swoje początki na drugą połowę lat osiemdziesiątych i mające na liście dokonać imponującą ilość muzycznych publikacji. Zatem zbędne wprowadzacze od razu sobie pominę, bo jeśli ktoś nazw nie kojarzy, to jest zwykłym ignorantem. Osiemnaście minut na wosku lub srebrnym dysku, trzy utwory w wykonaniu Amerykanów, cztery od Niemców, to zaserwuje nam w nadchodzącym miesiącu Hells Headabangers. (Czytaj dalej...)

Nowy numer od HEXIS

 

Four months before the official release date of their forthcoming album, "Aeternum", HEXIS unveil a second song. On 'Exhaurire', the Blackened Hardcore band displays a contrast to their fast and straight-forward first track 'Divinitas'. The sludgy and doomy composition drowns the listener in heavy bass lines, thunderous drumbeats and noisy guitar sounds. Without the need for taking up speed, HEXIS rigorously build up tension as well as an atmosphere of dread and oppression.

HEXIS emerged in Denmark in the year 2010, following the DIY-spirit of the Punk and Hardcore scene, while simultaneously being deeply rooted in the Black Metal sound. They are self-made as well as self-taught, and HEXIS are constantly travelling the world. With over 700 shows from the Faroe Islands to New Zealand and from Cuba to Mongolia under their belt, these guys have been the archetype of a hard-working and hard-hitting band.

Combining the energy of Hardcore with the desolation of Black Metal and throwing in bits and pieces of Doom and Sludge, HEXIS have crafted two full-length albums, namely "Abalam" (2014) and "Tando Ashanti" (2017), as well as countless EPs and Split-releases. The musicians behind HEXIS are located all over Europe and they have been praised for both their outstanding records and, first and foremost, for their intense live shows that took them to high ranking festivals such as Roskilde, Bloodstock, Roadburn or Ieper Fest.

HEXIS have inked a deal with Debemur Morti Productions in 2020 and will release their third album in 2022.

Grecka black metalowa kapela Corax B.M debiutuje z Pagan Records

Corax B.M, the latest spawn of the Greek black metal scene, will release its debut EP entitled “Spread the Occult” on 27 May 2022 via Pagan Records after signing to the label earlier this year.

The band's most notable music element is the combination of primal Scandinavian black melodies, with a punk aesthetic and their main influences are Behemoth, Mayhem, Rotting Christ, Necromantia and Darkthrone.

EPka Anachronistic do odsłuchu po całości

Anachronistic is the product of two ex-pats joining forces to create something truly unique, a heavy black metal sound, but overlaid with hardcore vocals. Armed with a vision, lyrics, and a long list of influences, American vocalist Matt Ramarge approached Ukrainian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Umarlak to breathe life into the project. Jak ten miesiąc zleciał… Dopiero pisałem kilka słów o jedenastym odcinku The Last Words of Death, a tu już czarny zegar śmierci dopełnił koło na swojej trupiej tarczy i wybił północ. Ta edycja była wyjątkowa przynajmniej z dwóch powodów. Po pierwsze, skład imprezy zasilił zespół z zagranicy, choć nie był to dziewiczy tego typu wybryk, a po drugie pod klubem pojawiło się trzy-piąte załogi Apocalyptic Rites, w osobach shub nigguratha, Hatzamotha i mojej, nieskromnej. Z shub’em byliśmy nieco wcześniej, więc włączyliśmy piwo na rozruch, pomogliśmy Niemcom wrzucić graty na bekstejcz i cierpliwie czekaliśmy na mających pojawić się lada chwila na scenie weselnych grajków.

Jako pierwsi swoje umiejętności zaprezentował wrocławski Necrosys. Po pierwszym spojrzeniu na scenę myślałem, że to zespół gwiazd. Pałker wyglądał jak odchudzony Gene Hoglan a na basie prezentowała się panienka, ciut przypominająca Jo Bench. Muzycznie była to jednak zupełnie inna bajka. Maciej rzadko zaprasza na swoje zbiegowiska zespoły deathmetalowe, nad czym czasem boleję, jednak tym razem otwieracz wieczoru prezentował ten właśnie gatunek perwersji. Państwo zajebali bardzo konkretnie, zgrabnie mieszając blastowe zrywy z ostrym hamowaniem a także z wplatanymi tu i ówdzie bardziej blackmetalowymi tremolo czy nastrojowymi liniami gitary w tle. Momentami odrobinę zajeżdżało to Morbidami a w żwawszych momentach kojarzyło mi się z rodzimą Hostią, tym bardziej, że słowa wypluwane przez bujającego się niczym Barney wokalistę były w języku narodowym. Mimo iż zespół grał na jedną gitarę brzmiało to bardzo mocno i gęsto. Szkoda tylko, że poza wspomnianym wokalistą, przeskakującym z nogi na nogę, reszta brygady zachowywała się dość statycznie. Frontman miał jednak w sobie tyle charyzmy, że kiedy pod koniec nakazał dość licznie zgromadzonej gawiedzi napierdalać, mały młyn się nawet na chwilę zawiązał. Na zakończenie poleciał dla odmiany numer po angielsku, ale szczerze mówiąc te „nasze” zdecydowanie bardziej mną pozamiatały i mam nadzieję, że to były chwyty z nadchodzącego pełniaka, który to ponoć już się buduje.

Po zejściu pod klub okazało się, iż nie wszyscy się najwyraźniej dobrze bawią, bowiem jakiś zrobiony sznur mocno pyskował pod adresem mojego miasta i obsługi klienta. Miał chłopaczyna szczęście, że nie było akurat pod ręką bardziej krewkich brygadzistów niż tam obecni, bo bankowo sobotni spęd uczyniliby dla niego niezapomnianym.

W międzyczasie na deskach zameldował się pochodzący z tego samego miasta co poprzednicy Antiflesh. Panowie staroszkolnie pomalowani  i wystylizowani na biało, ewidentnie na Arkonę, zafundowali publiczności blackmetalowy rollercoaster, balansując między nagłymi przyspieszeniami i częstymi zwolnieniami, które to, według mnie, najbardziej gniotły. Było to jednak dość przewidywalne i poniekąd schematyczne, stąd też po kilku utworach ewakuowałem się na pogaduchy z obsługującym stoisko Mara Production ziomalem. Nie twierdzę jednak, iż był to słaby występ, zwłaszcza biorąc pod uwagę dość liczną kibicującą zespołowi publikę. Widać się podobało.

Następnie przyszedł czas na Fadheit. Ich poprzedniego występu w Bydgoszczy nie miałem okazji doświadczyć, jako iż przebywałem akurat na wywczasach, jednak to czego doświadczyłem kilka dni temu nieco mnie zszokowało. Łodzianie najwyraźniej wzięli dość mocny zakręt w swojej twórczości. Na bydgoskiej scenie zaprezentowali w przeważającej ilości nowe kompozycje z nadchodzącego drugiego pełniaka. Jak one brzmią? No cóż… Zniknął mrok, pojawił się, jak to wykrzyczał ze sceny wokalista „Łódzki punk rock, jazda kurwy!”. Było zatem skocznie, rytmicznie i bawiły się przy tym głównie wymienione przez śpiewaka… dziewczyny. No jechało to mocno rakenrollem, był groove, choć elementy Katatoni tez się w starszych numerach przewinęły. Miałem trochę mieszane odczucia, bo szczerze mówiąc muzyka Fadheit nie przekroczyła absolutnie granic przyzwoitości, jednak widok bijających się do niej niczym gibony lasek wywołał u mnie lekki absmak. Pogłębiały go obfite oklaski po każdym z numerów i miałem wrażenie że oto na scenę wyszedł, kurwa, Rubik. Nie mniej jednak zespół zachował chyba tak zwaną metalową postawę. Śpiewający gitarnik zaciekle uskuteczniał dzięcioła, a w pewnym momencie wykrzyczał, że „Na moją twarz pluje” i panowie pojechali patentem mocno kojarzącym mi się z Furią („Zamawianie Drugie” zostało ewidentnie zaczerpnięte), więc… pozostaje mi jedynie poczekać, aż odsłucham ten nowy matex w wersji finalnej. Co do samego koncertu, to był on decydowanie najbardziej „taneczny”, ale chuja tam, mi się mimo wszystko podobało, bo wszystko było idealnie wyważone i żywiołowe a zespół na scenie też nieco ruchu zaznał.

Deserem wieczoru był niemiecki Rimruna. Teraz powiedzcie mi, ile znacie zespołów, które potrafią na żywca zagrać w dwójkę? Wiadomo, Bolzer, może Inquisition. To powiem wam, że Wintergrimm i Hivefroid, ubrani w czarne sukienki z kapturem, też mocno dają radę. Ich zimny, śpiewany szorstko po niemiecku black, na scenie wypadł znakomicie. O wiele surowiej niż z płyt, i nawet jeśli chwilami, głównie w partiach blastujących, perkusja nieco przykrywała gitarę, to i tak nie było powodów do narzekania. Przeciwnie, oczy zachodziły szronem a stawy kostniały. Kombinacje na temat drugiej fali w wykonaniu Rimruna są na tyle interesujące, na tyle różnorodne i niejednotematyczne, że potrafią zahipnotyzować niczym norweski blizzard. Szkoda jedynie, że występ ten oglądała nieliczna, pozostała garstka niedopitków, z których niektórzy chyba pomylili d-beaty z dożynkowym graniem tańcząc radośnie pod sceną, a reszta stała tępo po bokach, jakby ni chuja nic nie rozumieli z docierających do nich dźwięków. No cóż, duet zza zachodniej granicy zagrał sztukę dla nielicznych na bardzo wysokim poziomie udowadniając, iż nie potrzeba wyszukanej scenografii, by grać prawdziwy i intrygujący black metal.

Była to zatem, ponownie, bardzo udana edycja The Last Words of Death i tylko szkoda, że publika tym razem średnio dopisała. Bo osiemdziesiąt luda to mimo wszystko poniżej kreski. In plus zaliczyłbym jednak jeszcze fakt, iż wszystkie kapele pojawiły się na scenie punktualnie, czego skrzętnie pilnował stojący w podwiązkach i strzelający z pejcza organizator. Za niecałe dwa miesiące kolejne balety. Tym razem akurat data zbiega się z istotniejszym dla mnie wydarzeniem, ale kto ma Bydgoszcz po drodze na pewno wpaść powinien, bo nie pożałuje.

No i doczekaliśmy się drodzy państwo albumu nr 3 amerykańskich Thrash/Speed Metalowców z  Wraith. Nie wyczekiwałem jakoś specjalnie na tę płytkęani nie stwardniały mi sutki, gdy otrzymałem ją do recenzji, ale po jej wysłuchaniu muszę przyznać, że to gruby materiał i jak dotąd zdecydowane najlepszy, jaki wypluł ze swych trzewi ten kwartet z  Indiany. (Czytaj dalej...)

Debiut IN NOTHINGNESS na otwarcie wakacji

 

On July 1st internationally, Personal Records is proud to present In Nothingness' highly anticipated debut album, Black Sun Funeral, on CD format.

Hailing from Tokyo, Japan's In Nothingness formed in 2014 and existed under the moniker The Eternal Nothingness until 2016. The work of one Lord Nothingness, the first recording under the new moniker In Nothingness came during the autumn of 2017 with the Into the Nothingness... EP. Shockingly developed, the band's debut EP presented a newcomer well versed in the old ways of melodic death metal - specifically, the mid '90s boom that started in Sweden and spread across Europe during the rest of the decade.

Alas, that four-song/20-minute EP was but a tease for In Nothingness' grandiose debut album, Black Sun Funeral. Immediately and breathtakingly, Black Sun Funeral digs deep into one's heartstrings and utterly possesses with its majestic 'n' melodic surge & sway. Indeed, the spectres of melodic death metal's most classic bands - equally early Dark Tranquility and In Flames but also Sweden's Eucharist, Gates of Ishtar, and Night in Gales - loom large over In Nothingness, but the mainman's songwriting simply STUNS with its wild 'n' winding creativity. The hooks are HUGE yet never too commercial - again, this is DEATH METAL above all - and the leads have a hummable, almost-folkloric feel, but thankfully stay far away from folk metal cliches. Most of all, you can FEEL the emotion - darkness, desire, death - coursing through In Nothingness' execution, which is feverish and loose, given grit by the album's sympathetic production. And, after a mere 40 minutes of magickal mesmerism, you'll want to return to Black Sun Funeral again and again and again...

Many elder styles of metal in general and death metal in particular have been resurrected in these increasingly reflective times. However, so few records can channel the bristling brilliance of the original melodic death metal wave quite like In Nothingness' Black Sun Funeral. Bear witness to what's bound to be a modern classic!

Obiło mi się kiedyś o uszy, że pierwsza płyta tego pana powstała w oparciu o materiał przygotowany na kolejną płytę Immortal. Dlatego też jedynka mocno przypomina ostatnie pozycje „Nieśmiertelnego”. Na „Outstrider” Abbath Doom Occulta odszedł nieco od black metalowej tradycji i skierował się w stronę heavy metalu i thrashowych przygrywek z lekkimi naleciałościami Motörhead, lecz trochę zimy da się tam jeszcze wyczuć. (Czytaj dalej...)
