Today, Chilean death metallers Antagonyze premiere the new track "Hidden Wisdom" at heavily trafficked web-portal NoCleanSinging.com. The track is the second to be revealed from the band's highly anticipated debut album, Interpretations of the Unknown Wilderness, set for international release on April 19th via Chaos Records. Formed in 2019 and hailing from the always-thriving Chilean underground, Antagonyze are a death metal band founded by guitarists Ignacio Riveros and Francisco Álvarez and bassist Mateo Gutiérrez. Soon enough, they began their first compositions and later recruited drummer Moisés Aguayo and the ex-vocalist to complete the formation. By the end of that first year, Antagonyze achieved some support in the local underground metal scene with some live shows. Not long after, the band recording their first work, Echoes From Soul, a demo cassette that was originally released in May 2020. This was an independent release and was thus limited to 33 copies. After that, the label Infernal South Productions offered to release the demo in a pro cassette version, which came July 2020, limited to 140 copies.

Due to the pandemic, Antagonyze were forced to stop their activities, but during this period, the band continued working on new compositions from home. By late 2020, the ex-vocalist left the band, and in 2021, the drummer Moisés Aguayo had time-commitment troubles due to his job. In this moment, the band recruited Alvaro Mora as new vocalist and Nicolás Cavada as drummer, both from the city Los Ángeles, which is near to their home of Nacimiento. This lineup boost proved to be a boon, as Antagonyze began changing lyrics and adding new drum rhythms and nuances to preexisting songs. With this new formation, the band began to play more shows and gain more followers, sharing the stage with the likes of fellow Chilean bands Serpent Throne, Apostasy, Repugnatory, Soul Rot, Strigoi, Radamanthys, and Peru's Morbo Satan among others.

By the end of 2022, Antagonyze decided to re-record the best songs of Echoes From Soul and add new songs to create a new full-length work titled Interpretations of the Unknown Wilderness. Thick and throttling, Interpretations of the Unknown Wilderness more than lives up to its title, unleashing a torrent of twisted & twisting death metal of a most '90s vintage. Frequently dipping into doomier corridors, Antagonyze always whip forth forward momentum, varying their attack with violence and class, particularly in their lead work, which remains richly melodic in its bottomless darkness. The production, too - recorded by Felipe Cadenas at Estudio Chains, with mixing & mastering by Ignacio Riveros - makes these ten Interpretations hit that much harder and with devastating dynamics.

For those who wisely prize the '90s works of Immolation, The Chasm, Shub Niggurath, and Mexico's Cenotaph, go further south of Heaven with Antagonyze's Interpretations of the Unknown Wilderness!

Ultio is a project by Giorgio Barroccu (DERHEAD) and “Cor” can be considered like the twistedly demented brother of “The Grey Zone Phobia”, DERHEAD’s latest album released back in March 2023.

Another side of the same, dark coin - ULTIO shares DERHEAD’s very same dramatic tension and despair, however showcasing here a magnificently unrestrained and raw soul: behind a gloomy wall of freezingly cold riffs and shrieking screams ULTIO ascends maniacally, building a sense of impending peril and oppression - dissonance after dissonance.

Similarly to the previous EP, the writing and recording process of “Cor” was also very instinctive and took place in the space of only a few weeks: the result is something furious and unhinged, raw and visceral - and yet, somehow, grandiose and triumphant in all its bestial savagery.

The first full-length recording of Belgium's Brakel, Wranger Wanen comprises nine songs across a time-evaporating / stretching 27 minutes. Debiut FLAMEKEEPER w maju

 

Today, Invictus Productions announces May 10th as the international release date for Flamekeeper's highly anticipated debut album, self-titled Flamekeeper, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Flamekeeper was founded by the Italian musician / spiritual agitator Marco S. Vermiglio in 2018. After 10 years of militancy in the European black metal scene as the frontman of the Roman band Demonomancy, Marco changed drastically his artistic path, driven by his decision to live his life with the only purpose of becoming a living message of resilience, inner strength, and faith. This burning desire translated into writing and performing music that stands as a manifesto for change, as a voice to the voiceless, as a beacon for hope in tumultuous times and as a reminder that, even in the darkest of moments, the human spirit remains unbreakable.

In early 2019, Marco relocated from his hometown of Rome, Italy to Stockholm, Sweden, due to his interest in the city's prosperous musical landscape. Later during the same year, Invictus Productions heralded the release of the inaugural EP, We Who Light the Fire, where Marco performed all instruments.

Every plan to bring the new music on stage was postponed until 2022 due to the world pandemic. Meanwhile, the international mosaic that constitutes the Flamekeeper's live lineup took its form featuring an ensemble of Stockholm-based musicians, namely Filipe Jesus Minhava from Portugal on guitar, Davide Benincaso from Italy on bass, and Axel Johansson from Sweden on drums, with Marco S. Vermiglio leading the band as the main vocalist.

The songwriting and production processes for the highly anticipated debut album, simply named Flamekeeper, lasted cumulatively almost four years, necessary to establish and refine Flamekeeper's epic, life-affirming, and explosive sound: anthemic choruses suitable for stadium-wide sing-alongs alternate with intimate and dramatic instrumental sections, echoing the Southern European heritage brought by Vermiglio and Minhava. While drawing inspiration from classic acts of the golden era of hard 'n' heavy music such as Metallica, Dio, and Manowar, Vermiglio’s vision deliberately rejects nostalgic clichés, solidly setting its ground in the present moment. Flamekeeper aims not to belong to any musical scene, but to tell the story of how finding out who you really are, living according to your nature and embracing your purpose in this world representing the only key to achieve true freedom.

Ukrainian Progressive Extreme Metal ensemble WAIDELOTTE present the full album stream of their inaugural release, "Celestial Shrine". This impassioned and addictive debut balances violent riffing, driving rhythms, fluid basslines and raging vocals with a poignant sense of melancholy via exultant rural harmonies and the use of native instruments including the duduk, bandura, tsymbaly and hurdy-gurdy.

WAIDELOTTE is a new Extreme Metal act from Ukraine which skilfully combines Black Metal, melodic Death Metal and Progressive Metal with traditional Folk singing and instrumentation. The project gathers individuals with diverse musical backgrounds, including members of SOEN, WHITE WARD, NAONI ORCHESTRA, Тінь Сонця, SOLAR KOLLAPSE, and CASA URAINA amongst others.

Wznowienie trzeciej płyty ADRAMELECH

 

After being out of print for many years, Xtreem Music has decided to put back into circulation the 3rd and final album from 2005 "Terror of Thousand Faces" by the legendary Finnish band ADRAMELECH, 19 years after its release and 22 since its recording. Until now only released on CD, now it will also be released for the first time on 12"LP and Cassette on May 7th.

In addition to the CD, there is also a vinyl edition of 250 copies (100 splatter and 150 black), as well as cassette limited to 50 units.

Re-issue date for "Terror of Thousand Faces" will be May 7th, 2024 through Xtreem Music on CD, 12"LP, Cassette & Digital formats.

Crucifier był dla mnie zawsze jednym z zespołów przeczących tezie (albo potwierdzającym regułę, jak kto woli), że za wielką wodą też potrafią w black metal. I choć w tamtejszej odmianie gatunku zawsze sporo było naleciałości deathmetalowych, to jednak czystym death metalem tego nazwać nie było sposób. Rzeczony band, po dość długim letargu, przebudził się najwyraźniej na dobre, i w przeciągu sześciu lat serwuje nam trzecie wydawnictwo sygnowane charakterystycznym logo. (Czytaj dalej...)

Jeżeli chodzi o Norweską hordę Aeternus, to odnoszę wrażenie, że w ich przypadku sytuacja jest zero-jedynkowa, tzn. albo się lubi ich twórczość, albo leje na nią ciepłym strumieniem moczu. Ja należę zdecydowanie do pierwszej grupy i cenię sobie muzykę kwartetu z Bergen. Uważam bowiem, że od samego początku mieli oni własną osobowość, podążali jakby na peryferiach głównego nurtu i nie bali się stylistycznej wolty w czasach, w których powiedzmy sobie szczerze, średnio im się to opłacało. (Czytaj dalej...)

On March 29th, NoEvDia will release Verberis' highly anticipated third album, The Apophatic Wilderness.

"Do you not recognize the trials requested of you? Do you not hear the swarms of voracious flies? Do you not smell corruption’s fetid perfume? As moths to candle flame, so compelled and beguiled to be blind to your annihilation in the Devil’s fires."'

With The Apophatic Wilderness, Verberis reveals an image of man cast into the house of Abaddon. Three formidable compositions totaling 41 minutes proceed from 2022’s Adumbration of the Veiled Logos, recounting an entanglement of hubris, submission, worship, and ruin.

As with the past two releases, The Apophatic Wilderness was recorded by the constellation of DA with JSM, NH, and MP. This time, the essence of germanium transistors and magnetic tape imbues the sonic spectrum and provides an aura of vintage viscerality.

While collaborating once more with Ars Alchymiae and Magnus Lindberg, further control was relinquished to achieve a final product reaching beyond the capacities of the band’s core alone. In this respect, mixing was by the hands of Richard Behrens, whereas layout and typography came forth from an open grave.

Take heed in the apophatic wilderness.

American brutal death metal four-piece PATHOLOGY, feat. drummer extraordinaire Dave Astor (ex-cofounder of Cattle Decapitation), is gearing up for a new album release and North American tour this spring. May 17th will see the band return with their twelfth installment and first for Agonia Records, "Unholy Descent", which is currently being previewed in the form of a single & music video, "Cult of the Black Triangle", available below. A headlining North American run commencing April 17th will pave the way for the album's drop date.

"Unholy Descent" is a sinister hybrid of unflinching and delightful aural punishment. The album is replete with razor-sharp guitars and brutish, frog-edged vocals, clipped together by a hard-slamming cascade of tight & taut drumming. With drops of melody seeping into the crevices of PATHOLOGY's unremitting charge, these thirteen tales of ancient aliens, demonic powers and social issues, will leave your hearing beaten and bruised in the best way possible.

The relentless wave of sonic devastation of "Unholy Descent" was carefully designed, recorded and mixed at Sharkbite Studios by Zack Ohren (Aborted, All Shall Perish, Decrepit Birth) in June 2023, and aptly mastered by the capable hands of Alan Douches at West West Side Music (Origin, Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decapitation). The painting which adorns the cover artwork was created by Pär Olofsson (Exodus, Abysmal Dawn, Immolation).

"Unholy Descent" is PATHOLOGY's third consecutive album with the same personnel, comprising a proven set of talented death metal mavericks, in the shape of said Dave Astor on drums, Daniel Richardson on guitars, Richard Jackson on bass, and Obie Flett on vocals. The line-up was portrayed in photography by Nikki Astor.
