Po wydanej zaledwie kilka miesięcy później EP-ce, zatytułowanej po prostu „RüYYn”, nadszedł czas na rozdział drugi w postaci pełnowymiarowego albumu. Znajdziemy na nim nieco ponad czterdzieści minut raczej nowoczesnego, melodyjnego black metalu. Amerykański Thrash na Brutal Assault

 

Here are the seven names of American thrash metal that will take the stage at Brutal Assault 2024!  Inevitably, the batch of thrash was bound to come, so we're announcing seven bands of the American wave. Four big names who have been involved in the formation of this genre will be coming from California - namely Testament, Exodus, Armored Saint and SADUS. The younger blood will be represented by Colorado's HAVOK , multi-instrumentalist Joel Grind's Toxic Holocaust and Czech-American Laid to Waste.

Norwegian death/thrashers SOVEREIGN will release their anticipated debut full-length, Altered Realities, early next year on Dark Descent Records.

Formed in Oslo in 2018 AD, the band has three releases under their belts: Iron Cast (single 2018), Sovereign (demo, 2019), and Neurotic (EP, 2020). Three years in the making, the time has finally come to complete the set with debut album Altered Realities. The album stands out as a monstrous masterwork of old-school extreme metal ecstasy.

“Altered Realities is a product of an ever-evolving journey we have taken as a band, from our start in 2018 and culminating in the album’s recording in early 2022,” reflects lead guitarist Tommy Jacobsen. He is joined in the band by former Nocturnal Breed band-mate Vidar Fineidet (guitar), alongside drummer Cato Syversrud, and bassist/vocalist Gravskjender.

“We strive to push ourselves, both in terms of speed and technicality, whilst still keeping a groove and dynamic. Our approach to death/thrash is an interplay between fast-paced aggression and a slower, more groove-oriented feel. The lyrical themes of the album mirror events and unrest that happened during the time of writing and is in itself a journey.”

Altered Realities will be out on January 19, 2024, on CD, vinyl, cassette and digital formats.

On February 2nd, 2024 internationally, Personal Records is proud to present Litosth's highly anticipated third album, Cesariana, on CD format.

Litosth is the physical manifestation of the visions of Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Maicon Ristow and bassist Wendel Siota. Founded in 2016, Litosth channel a torrent of feelings and life principles in the form of music, which definitely does not respect any type of barrier or limitation.

Formed by members of the most prominent black metal bands in Latin America (Patria, Mysteriis, Swords at Hymns, Dark Celebration, I Gather your Grief), Litosth bring a new approach and a breath of fresh air with their unique way of creating music. Following two albums - 2019's Crossed Parallels of Self Refraction and 2022's Farther From the Sun - Litosth are now set to release their third full-length, Cesariana. Armed with absolutely top-notch production, Cesariana sees the duo go even deeper in their quest, delivering a mix of almost unthinkable influences. The basis is melodic black metal of a most '90s vintage, but threading inside and out this visceral work are everything from dark pop from the '80s, epic classical music, and a wide swath of other metals - doom and dark metal, especially. Whalesong to eksperymentalny kolektyw z Tarnowskich Gór. Grupa ta wymyka się wszelkim możliwym szufladkom muzycznym - atakują ciężarem brzmienia, dynamiką, hipnotycznymi motywami i przytłaczającymi, nieraz trwającymi kilkanaście minut kompozycjami. Czerpią z takich gatunków jak industrial, noise rock, no wave, drone, jazz i post rock. Grupa korzysta z szerokiego instrumentarium - wśród nich są: gong, cymbały, dzwony rurowe, mellotron, a także przedmioty natury przemysłowej - kawałki blach czy piły tarczowe.

Wij to czarujący Frankenstein zrodzony z eklektycznych muzycznych gustów tria rozsianego na trzy strony polski. Gitara barytonowa Palca pełniąca, jednocześnie z główną, funkcję basu, orze słuchacza ciężkimi riffami, w których czujne ucho odnajdzie ślady wielu metalowych i hard rockowych gatunków z lat 70. 80. i 90. Nie jest to jednak granie retro, tylko gorąca zupa ugotowana na pożywnych inspiracjach. Wokal Tui Szmaragd uosabia znany bon mot Toma Waitsa o „pięknych melodiach mówiących o potwornych rzeczach”. Solidnie ukształtowany głos pozwala jej swobodnie i wyraziście prowadzić zawiłe opowieści. Najświeższy nabytek zespołu to perkusista Bob, który na dotychczasową, niemal punkową moc bębnów Wija nakłada nową jakość precyzji. Najnowszy album „Przestwór” (2023, Piranha Music) pokazuje inne niż dotychczas oblicze Wija — organiczne, autorskie podejście do brzmienia i kompozycji. Narbo Dacal to zespół z Krakowa w którego skład wchodzą Eliza (wokal i bas), Bartek (perkusja) i Drut (gitara). Ich niezbyt łatwa do określenia twórczość oscyluje gdzieś pomiędzy doom metalem, a metalem progresywnym, czerpiąc jednocześnie z wielu innych gatunków, takich jak m.in. folk, sludge czy nawet black metal. Rozpocząwszy swoją przygodę w czerwcu 2020, weszli we wrześniu 2021 do krakowskiego studia No Solace prowadzonego przez M. (Mgła, Kriegsmaschine), by nagrać debiutancką EP-kę – wydaną w styczniu 2022 przez Piranha Music. Po zagraniu kilkunastu koncertów w 2022 roku (festiwale Summer Dying Loud, Castle Party, Great September, supportowanie amerykańskiego Coven, trasy z zespołami Angrrsth, Gorycz, Hydra, Las Trumien) zespół wszedł ponownie do studia No Solace. Efektem współpracy z M. jest pełnowymiarowa płyta “Elysium Now“, wydana w listopadzie 2023, znów przez Piranha Music.

Today, Signal Rex announces February 2nd, 2024 as the international release date for Hollow Woods' highly anticipated second album, Like Twisted Bones of Fallen Giants, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

In many ways, Like Twisted Bones of Fallen Giants is a natural continuation of Hollow Woods' debut album, Cold Winds Cleave the Earth, from 2021. Familiar elements - pure & proud BLACK METAL, done with personality and charisma - are recast in more varied ways. The production across the album is a bit more airy compared to that debut, but still far from overly polished. Likewise, overt aggression is dialed down a bit to make room for more epic passages, where acoustic guitar gives support to powerful clean vocals. As no doubt presaged by the album's title, lyrical themes here deal with nature mysticism, atavism, and specifically slash-and-burn as a metaphor of personal growth unburdened by the past. For the first time, select passages of lyrics are published as ciphers for the song's themes. To usher in Like Twisted Bones of Fallen Giants, Hollow Woods will be performing at the Howls of Winter fest in Estonia during February 2024.

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions announces February 2nd, 2024 as the international release date for Unaussprechlichen Kulten's highly anticipated sixth album, Häxan Sabaoth, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

By now, Unaussprechlichen Kulten require little introduction. For nearly 25 years, this Chilean cult have built a commanding canon of eldritch death metal DARKNESS. From their early demos to later splits and especially their preceding five full-lengths - not least of which, 2014's Baphomet Pan Shub-Niggurath, 2017's Keziah Lilith Medea (Chapter X), and 2019's Teufelsbücher, all released by Iron Bonehead to widespread critical acclaim - Unaussprechlichen Kulten have explored the furthest reaches of primordial dread and ancient mysticism, all through pure 'n' authentic Metal of Death. That their vision has only become more intense and mesmerizing, after so many years (and when so many bands sputter to obsolescence), is some strange magick indeed...

Witness Häxan Sabaoth. Both a culmination of their characteristic aesthetic and a whole new, supernatural twist upon it, Häxan Sabaoth sees Unaussprechlichen Kulten fusing clanging angularity with haunting atmospherics, delirious chaos with eerie melodicism, epic narrative with primal crush - essentially, an extrapolation (and intensification) of seemingly polar opposites. And yet, through that same strange magick, the Chileans conjure a tableau that's undeniably their vastest and most violent to date. Riffs and rhythms pound and mutate with hypnotic ease, breaking down the listener's will; momentum becomes slipstreaming, with dread sounds bubbling up from every crevasse of this abyss; motifs then flicker with frightening clarity before disintegrating into something equally dread-inducing. For however "pure" and primordial Unaussprechlichen Kulten's death metal is, there's' daresay a newfound grace across Häxan Sabaoth - malodorous and miasmic, yes, but it effectively lends an airiness to what's already an exceptionally dense & dissonant foundation. Likewise, the considerably cleaner production ably intensifies the atmosphere with no sacrifice in physicality. That the cover art manages to capture this whole dichotomy is surely no accident.

Many words could (and should) be written about this accomplishment, but the short of it is that Unaussprechlichen Kulten here have daringly raised an impossibly high bar. Häxan Sabaoth is their grandest achievement yet, and guaranteed to be one of this decade's defining death metal tomes.

Panowie niezbyt się przez tę dekadę spieszyli, przechodząc kolejne etapy pod tytułem: demo, split (a nawet trzy) i EP-ka. Dopiero teraz z Grubej Dupy wypadł im debiutancki album zatytułowany „Exhumed… From the Unhallowed Ground”. Sombre Héritage powstał w 2019 roku, a w kolejnym 2020 wydał swój debiut „Alpha Ursae Minoris”. Nie słyszałem go, bo to przecież black metal z Quebecu. Nie mam więc punktu odniesienia, ale podejrzewam, a poza tym z notki informacyjnej od wydawcy wynika, że najnowszy krążek tej grupy „Inter Duo Mundi” jest rozwinięciem stylu z jedynki, zatem odsłuch najświeższego materiału zupełnie mi wystarczył. (Czytaj dalej...)
