Split UPON THE ALTAR / DEATHEPOCH na początku września

 

On September 16th internationally, Putrid Cult is proud to present a special split album between Upon the Altar and DeathEpoch.

A record of sepulchral extremes, this split album brings together two of the Polish underground's ugliest upstarts, featuring 10 songs across 47 minutes of exclusive material. Both bands released their debut albums via Putrid Cult - Upon the Altar in early 2021 with Absid Ab Ordine Luminis and DeathEpoch in autumn 2020 with Abysmal Invocation, respectively - and this new blood pact solidifies their standing as stratifying antagonists of black/death/noise.

Upon the Altar are up first with seven swift tracks of bestial consummation. Neither strictly black metal nor strictly death metal, the band's latest attacks on the white light of good go beyond "bestial" cliches and deep into a sewer of filth and disease. Maniacs for old Morbosidad, Teitanblood, and Temple Nightside will certainly be pleased by their entry here, but also surprised by how far Upon the Altar take their gutted ruminations, with songwriting that's seamless in its catchiness but far from soft.

DeathEpoch follow next with three nuclear abominations that are EPIC in their detonation and desolation. Their debut album definitely portrayed the duo as thinking (WAY) outside the usual underground metal box, taking in equal influence from extreme industrial and power electronics, and their new entry here arguably surpasses that fever dream: SONIC ANNIHILATION that utterly punishes, burning the last frayed end of sanity to bitter ash. That DeathEpoch's arsenal is unapologetically mechanized only makes their three songs that much more sinister and unique. Brighter Death Now meets Beherit? Perhaps...

Hear the tolling of the bells of doom, flanked by air-raid sirens and wails of anguish and despair... Upon the Altar and DeathEpoch provide the soundtrack with this new split album.
