ONIROPHAGUS zapowiadają trzecia płytę

On January 17th, 2025 internationally, Personal Records is proud to present Onirophagus' highly anticipated third album, Revelations From the Void, on CD format.

Hailing from Catalonia, Onirophagus saw the light in 2011 when Uretra and Moregod decided to create a project to revive the old sound of '90s doom-death metal. They then contacted Paingrinder, who at that time was a member of death metallers Decapitated Christ. Later that year, the trio self-released their first EP, Defiler of Hope, which soon put them in the spotlight of the Catalan underground.

On the strength of that debut EP, Onirophagus next signed a record deal with legendary Madrid label Xtreem Music, who re-released that EP in April 2013 and then released their first album, Prehuman, in September of that year. Armed with those two releases, the band started to make a name for themselves throughout Spain, playing all over the country and sharing stages with such bands as Officium Triste, Saturnus, Evadne, Cauchemar, Helevorn, and Avulsed among many others.

With several lineup changes and after several years of hard work, Onirophagus released their second album, Endarkenment (Illvmination through Putrefaction), in 2019 - a much denser and darker album than its predecessors, again recorded and mastered at Moontower Studio, and with cover art by Adam Burke. Unfortunately, the pandemic soon broke out, and the band had to cancel several shows scheduled throughout the peninsula.

In 2021 was the rebirth of Onirophagus with the incorporation of Obzen (Bizarre, Judaswiege, Necrowitchery) and Sir Bellum (ex-Poetry, ex-Drama, etc), thus forming a sextet of members ready to create the band's crowning achievement. At last here, Revelations From the Void is Onirophagus at the height of their potential - and powers. Crushing and cavernous and yet majestically melodic at times and always atmospheric, Revelations From the Void presents an incredibly refined style of doom-death, both honoring and expanding its aesthetic parameters. There of course exists molten riffing, sepulchral vocals, and lumbering tempos aplenty, and while dynamic shifts between crush and clean have become more commonplace for doom-death, Onirophagus here do it better than most. What's perhaps most unique about Revelations From the Void is its songwriting: after the band play a riff or rhythm, they rarely go back to it, establishing an elegantly narrative flow that's not unlike Opeth during their masterful first trilogy of albums. Similarly, Paingrinder expands his vocal repertoire to include an impassioned shout, deepening the very human - and very anguished - nature of Onirophagus' doom-death.

Dotted with poignant moments of violin and once again with utterly powerful production courtesy of Moontower, Onirophagus begin the new year with what will surely be THE doom-death highlight: Revelations From the Void!
