Today, Caligari Records announces May 4th as the international release date for the debut demo of Hexakosioihexekontahexaphilia, Demo DCLXVI, on cassette tape format.
Hexakosioihexekontahexaphilia are a new, solo entity of the ever-prolific Tiúval, known in the underground for such bands as Israthoum, Half Visible Presence, Merihem, and Blutvial as well as running the cult Nomad Snake Productions. With this curiously monikered project does he strike out on his own with Demo DCLXVI, featuring two tracks of burning-black majesty. It'd be both accurate and inaccurate to strictly brand Hexakosioihexekontahexaphilia as "black metal," for those two songs here collectively show a wealth of ideas in a mere eight minutes. From spacious & strutting post-punk to collapsing-inward violence, from hysteric screeching to an Isengardish croon, from fuzzy chord-crush to Spaghetti Western strums, attack and recoil and RECOIL and ATTACK, everything getting dizzier and more delirious as it goes on - truly, not for nothing is the second song titled "Always One Step Too Far." And this is but the start for Hexakosioihexekontahexaphilia...how far will you go?
Take that first step too far with the brand-new track "The Burning of a Temple" HERE at Caligari's Bandcamp, where the tape can be preordered. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
