Today, Aural Music announces October 17th as the international release date for Void of Sleep's highly anticipated fourth album, The Abyss Into Which We All Have to Stare.
Forged in Ravenna, Italy in 2010, Void of Sleep – guitarist Gale, vocalist / guitarist Burdo, drummer Allo, and bassist Paso – conjure a cosmic amalgam of progressive sludge rock where epic rhythms melt into bottom-heavy doom breakdowns, complex time-signatures, and psychedelia. Following a three-song promo EP, Giants & Killers, which garnered the attention of Italian imprint Aural Music, the band released their full-length debut, Tales Between Reality and Madness, in 2013. Crowned, "adventurous, intelligent, and refreshingly addictive," by Teeth Of The Divine and an "underground gem worth discovering" by Metal Underground, the record proved wholly engrossing both sonically and thematically, with lyrics exploring the darkest corners of the human psyche, oneiric visions, and lysergic nightmares.
Following 2020's Metaphora, now arrives Void of Sleep's long-awaited fourth album. Ominously titled The Void Into Which We All Have to Stare, "Our new album is the soundtrack to the decline of a narcissistic, self-centered society that has lost all respect for itself and for the world around it," state Void of Sleep. "Musically, the album marks first the first time in which synthesizers were involved in the writing process from the very beginning. This shift allowed the band to take a broader, more progressive approach to composition, resulting in a sound that is both more personal and more contemporary - a significant step forward in the band’s evolution."
