Agonia wznawia AZARATH 'Diabolic Impious Evil'

 

Poland's esteemed black/death metal collective AZARATH today re-release a remastered version of their revered thrid studio album "Diabolic Impious Evil" in CD/LP/MC/DIGITAL on Agonia Records. A stream of the remaster is available here: The album has been remastered at Satanic Audio (Behemoth, Pestilence, Malevolent Creation) in Poland. AZARATH needs no introduction to the connoisseurs of sonic terror. The band crept from the shadows over two decades ago and is often described as a demonic mutation of Krisiun, Behemoth and Immolation. Co-founded by sole original member & drummer Inferno (of Behemoth fame), the group’s present day personnel further comprises long-running guitarist Bart (Damnation, Armagedon), long-time bassist Peter (ex-Lost Soul) and vocalist Skullripper (Embrional). Their last album "Saint Desecration" was released to critical acclaim in 2020 and was followed by the band's first ever music video for the song "Beyond The Gates Of Burning Ghats", available below. "Diabolic Impious Evil" was originally released in 2006 in CD format. The album was recorded at Hertz Studio and Hendrix Studio. The former mixed the album. Today, slow heavy metallers High Warden premiere the new track "The Pale Hunter" at heavily trafficked web-portal MetalBite.com. The track is the second to be revealed from the band's highly anticipated debut album, Astral Iron, set for international release on November 22nd via Dying Victims Productions. Hailing from Münster, Germany’s High Warden was founded by vocalist / guitarist Alastair van Morgue-Gûl and drummer Sadistic Hammer in 2022. The first sign of life from this self-proclaimed “Morgul Doom Commando” was the demo Land of Stone, released in early 2023 by Dying Victims. Initially hired as a live bassist, Lord Perish joined the band as a full-time member that year.

With their lineup thus set, High Warden prepare to ride into battle with their full-length debut, Astral Iron. The title serves as an aesthetic springboard for their idiosyncratic sound. Granted, High Warden are influenced by legendary bands like Reverend Bizarre, Doomsword, Bathory, Manilla Road, Pagan Altar, Trouble, and Mercyful Fate, but their version of epic heavy / doom metal is as foreign as it is familiar: Slow Heavy Metal, as they accurately refer to it.

Recorded live, Astral Iron pounds and pulses vibrantly, deploying riffs coursing and crushing barbarically before leaving wide-open spaces in anticipation of that next addicting slash of ancient steel. High Warden’s tones match their execution – earthen and mossy, grit encasing clarity – and each of the album’s five primary tracks (“Burgfrieden” is a hauntingly serene synth interlude that gives way to feedback) lumber forward with epic aplomb and high adventure. The vocals of A. v. Morgue-Gûl are plaintive and poignant, illustrating tales mainly based on individual thoughts but suitably packaged as analogies to various fantasy works (like those of J.R.R. Tolkien), historical events, and legends & myths. Unbelievers only need to hear Astral Iron’s closing epic “We Shall Burn at Foreign Shores (The Choice of Achilles)” to witness the blanching power of High Warden!

For many years, the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region of Poland used to be a barren wasteland when it comes to thrash metal. That was a subject to change not so long ago. Now the young and upcoming scene is joined by Fantom from Toruń.

The teenage band started in 2023 with the ambition of playing their own brand of thrash. The ambitious project suffered a few line-up changes, it was hard to keep the low end occupied. Finally, in June 2024, the guitarist of Technophobia from nearby Bydgoszcz, Kajetan, joined Fantom as their ultimate bassist.

Works on the debut EP intensified and, as the result, we now welcome the first single of the band. “McFantom” is a satire on modern society’s fastfood frenzy. Musically it’s progressive thrash plus more, as it includes a wild saxophone solo part. Szymon Milewski of Exist took care of the production.

We can expect Fantom’s “Nemesis” EP later this year and there shall be more crazines involved.

Today, Me Saco Un Ojo Records in conspiracy with BlackSeed Productions announce November 15th as the international release date for a brand-new mini-album from Trollcave, Adoration of the Abyssal Trespasser. Me Saco Un Ojo will release the 12" vinyl version while BlackSeed will handle the CD version.

Trollcave, Spain's funereal death-doom titans, are back with a new record. Following their 2021 EP, 2022 debut LP, and recent split with Putridarium, here comes another crowing opus of decay.

Brooding atmospherics begin with some unnerving synths - this record promises a descent into the crypts. After these tense few minutes, monolithic guitars and thunderous drums reanimate a slew of fetid compositions. Gurgling vocals blend into hypnotic rhythmic sludge to convey a drudging sense of dread.
