 Yfel 1710 / Martwa Aura

„Kali Yuga Boys”

Under the Sign of Garazel 2022

No to proszę bardzo.

(Czytaj dalej...)

SHADOW'S MORTUARY zapowiadają trzeci krążek

Today, Purity Through Fire announces May 31st as the international release date for Shadow's Mortuary's highly anticipated third album, Unohdettu Maa, on digipack CD and cassette tape formats. The vinyl LP will be released later this year.

Criminally, Shadow's Mortuary are still one of the best-kept secrets in the always-fertile Finnish black metal scene. The quartet formed in 2013, and patiently released two digital-only EPs - Kylmään Hautaan in 2015, and then Tulen Valtakunta in 2018 - before releasing their debut album, also titled Tulen Valtakunta, in 2018. That album was initially released on cassette through the cult Worship Tapes label, but soon did Purity Through Fire step in to release it on a wider scale on CD format. A year later came the band's equally strong second album, Kuoleman Portit, also released by Purity Through Fire. Across these recordings but especially the two full-lengths, Shadow's Mortuary displayed righteously traditional and ever-fiery Finnish BLACK METAL - no more, but certainly no less - that possessed all the iron-clad trademarks of that idiom.

While things have been relatively quiet on their front since then, Shadow's Mortuary return with a righteous fervor with Unohdettu Maa. Translated into English as "The Forgotten Land," Unohdettu Maa "stands for a vision of a place where no religions reign," the band explain, "Without its effect on human behavior and thinking. With this album, we attack towards Abrahamic religions with full force, carrying the torch of northern heritage and mysticism." Indeed do they accomplish that in a swift-yet-satisfying 32 minutes here, making their point plain and proud: melancholic melodicism, cold-fire execution, a punkish straightforwardness but never primitively so, and simply strong songs, just like the album's two predecessors. But Unohdettu Maa's true trump card comes in Shadow's Mortuary increasingly effortless ability to span the epic and the rabble-rousing, bringing forth grandeur in less cliched "epic" ways and, similarly, to sound incensed and headbanging without resorting to "party black metal" corniness.

The more some things change, the more others should stay the same - and so it goes with Unohdettu Maa. Louder than ever, Shadow's Mortuary declare they're prepared to uphold the banner of traditional Finnish black metal!

Raise the banners with the brand-new track "Kahleista Maan" HERE at Purity Through Fire's official YouTube channel. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Na początku kwietnia nowa EP-ka CRUCIFIER

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets June 1st as the international release date for a brand-new mini-album from America's CrucifierSay Your Prayers, on CD and 12" vinyl formats.

One of the longest-running entities in the American underground, Crucifier was formed in 1990 by vocalist/drummer Cazz Grant. While myriad lineups would come and go - and the band's eventual debut album, Stronger Than Passing Time, wouldn't be released until 2003 - Crucifier have kept consistent to their blasphemous, blackened death metal style steeped in the truly ancient and most underground ways.

Now, four years after their last recording (the full-length Thy Sulfur Throne on High), Crucifier return to ruin everyone's day with a five-song/26-minute mini-album titled Say Your Prayers. Primal but not primitive, weird and wandering but fully locked-in and never forgetting the METAL aspect, the quartet create a ghastly, grimy experience here, with Grant's vocals in particular stunning in their diabolic delirium. Furthering that delirium are the mind-mangled leads by Spencer "Madman" Murphy, also aided by Grant, altogether proving that Crucifier's eldritch sound is eternal.

Concluded by a Carnivore cover, Crucifier never stop the madness, so Say Your Prayers!

Begin never stopping the madness with the brand-new track "Into Ash" HERE at Iron Bonehead's Soundcloud. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Crucifier (USA)'s Say Your Prayers

Koncercik SERVANT w sieci

On 26 November, the highly acclaimed album "Blessed By The Light Of A Thousand Stars" by the German black metallers Servant was released via MDD/Black Sunset. As a thank you for the enormously positive feedback, many newly won fans, and also in view of the fact that for a long time it was not foreseeable if and when there would be live concerts again, the band worked towards the now released "Black Mass Evocation" at an early stage. This is a complete and impressive live show, recorded on 18/19 February in the vaults of Hardeg Castle, near Göttingen. In days of preparation, equipment, lighting and other technology was set up and the almost 40-minute live experience was recorded and edited from several camera perspectives over two days. "Black Mass Evocation" is available exclusively on YouTube and celebrated its premiere on the Black Metal Promotion channel.

Recenzja Hellfire „Lobotomized by Holy Crucifix”

 Hellfire

„Lobotomized by Holy Crucifix”

Mara Prod. 2021

(Czytaj dalej...)

Independent 2021

Do tej recenzji podchodziłem kilka razy i każdorazowo wypierdalałem moje wypociny do kosza, gdyż wydawały mi się one warte, co najwyżej funta kłaków. Nie jest bowiem łatwo pisać o muzyce, jaką na swym drugim pełniaku zaprezentował węgierski Rivers Ablaze powołany do życia przez Mártona Kertészaznanego z From the Sky i Special Providence, oraz  Andreas’a Nagy, którego niektórzy kojarzą zapewne z Sear Bliss i Nefaroius. (Czytaj dalej...)

(Czytaj dalej...)

Debiutancka EP-ka CROSSED PATHS w kwietniu

Today, Edged Circle Productions announces June 24th as the international release date for the stark debut EP from Crossed Paths, 4AM Sessions, on 12” vinyl format.

Crossed Paths is something of a dream team-up between Bolt Thrower’s Andy Whale (also drummer for Edged Circle death metal titans Darkened) and the prolific Jason Walton (Agalloch, Sculptured). And “dream” is the operative word when it comes to the duo’s debut recording, 4AM Sessions: far, FAR from metal, Crossed Paths create dark and unsettling kosmische in the grand tradition of ‘70s Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and Cluster. Familiar these spacey excursions may be seem, uniquely, the duo’s electronic ambience integrates an overt war-themed focus, creating a hallucinatory effect not unlike the visuals to the film Apocalypse Now.

This record will be strictly limited to 100 copies, with all profits from the physical and digital sales donated to help the people displaced by ongoing conflicts.

In the meantime, stream the entirety of 4AM Sessions HERE at Edged Circle's Bandcamp, where the record can also be preordered. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Nadchodzi debiut CADAVER COILS

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets May 27th as the international release date for Cadaver Coils' striking debut album, Offerings of Rapture and Decay, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Hailing from Greece, Cadaver Coils took shape on Athenian soil during the winter of 2021. The work of one mysterious man, Offerings of Rapture and Decay is the band's first recording, right after its formation. Sublimely simple and straightforward, Cadaver Coils don't pretend to be anything they're not nor try to "progress" anything that doesn't need progressing in the first place. Rather, this pure 'n' proud old-school DEATH METAL, suffused with the stench of doom and blackened with an atmosphere most sinister. Across the six-song/37-minute album, the intention of violence is obvious; so is the black aura surrounding it, slowly inhaled to the lungs. It's gnarly and physical in all the best ways, and emboldened by big 'n' thick production which highlights that grimy physicality. Not to mention the tasteful inclusion of wailing-into-the-abyss leads, which further makes Offerings of Rapture and Decay a sulfurous spin...

Those who pray at the black altar of Finland's Mythos or especially contemporaneous Belial or even equally early Obsecration are wholeheartedly encouraged to partake of these Offerings of Rapture and Decay and begin ensnaring themselves in Cadaver Coils.

Step forward to that altar with the brand-new track "Splenetic Voices" HERE at Iron Bonehead's Soundcloud. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Cadaver Coils' Offerings of Rapture and Decay
1. Wings As Blades [6:26]
2. Fruits Of Avarice [6:15]
3. Splenetic Voices [6:23]
4. Tongue Of The Beast [2:47]

Sadopunk Finland!

(Czytaj dalej...)

Split SPASTICUS / BOIA na początku maja

Today, Caligari Records announces May 5th as the international release date for Spasticating Exacution, a special split mini-album between Spasticus and Boia, on cassette tape format. The CD version will be co-released with Necrolatry Records.

Two upstarts in the thriving-yet-overlooked Italian death metal underground, Spasticus and Boia both here offer three exclusive tracks each, making for a 22-minute plunge into dankest Italian sewers. With a demo and EP already to their name and working with the likes of Rotted Life and Horror Pain Gore Death, among others, Spasticus are off to a swift start in their two years of existence. Not surprisingly, their sound is also swift, recalling turn-of-the-'90s grind-leaning death metal that places a premium on catchiness - and clear, crunchy production, making that catchiness hit that much harder.

Boia are looser by comparison, but equal their split-mates in sheer filthiness. From headbanging midtempos to scurrying blasts, twisting and turning but somehow still memorable, Boia surely recall classic Autopsy across their entry here and yet give it a grimy giallo aspect endemic to their Italian heritage. Naturally, Caligari released the band's debut EP, Chivalry of Death, back in 2017, so this new split is a welcome return for them.

In the meantime, hear two brand-new tracks - Spasticus' "Crypt of Freaks" and Boia's "Coffin Claustrophobia" - HERE at Caligari's Bandcamp, where both formats can be preordered. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Tracklisting for Spasticus / Boia's Spasticating Exacution
1. Spasticus - Crypt of Freaks
2. Spasticus - Inbred Earth
3. Spasticus - Hideous Eternal
4. Boia - Coffin Claustrophobia
5. Boia - Putrid Warhorses of Death
6. Boia - Sodomize the Nun [Postribulum cover]

Mini od ABYTHIC w maju

Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets May 27th as the international release date for a brand-new mini-album from AbythicEden of the Doomed, on CD and 12" vinyl formats.

It was but early 2021 when Abythic revealed their masterful third album, Dominion of the Wicked, via Iron Bonehead. Reaping widespread acclaim, Dominion of the Wicked displayed the Germans at their most DOOMED-OUT...and their brand-new Eden of the Doomed mini-album continues this upward "downward" trend. Impossibly heavy and portending and patient in their stripped-back but nuanced songwriting, Abythic again give a masterclass in pure 'n' proud death metal songwriting steeped in the grand teachings of mid-period Bolt Thrower, Asphyx, Grave, and Pentacle. Indeed, keeping that same power-trio lineup handily underlines the POWER within the no-less-atmospheric crush 'n' cruise; the production, in kind, is sharp and shuddering. Consider Eden of the Doomed a brief-but-robust bookend to Dominion of the Wicked and you'll once again be under Abythic's black-ash spell!

Hear the first spell with the brand-new track "Conquest of the One True Creed" HERE at Iron Bonehead's Soundcloud. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
