On December 3rd internationally, Me Saco Un Ojo Records is proud to present Vér's highly anticipated debut album, A Féreg Pusztulása, on CD and vinyl LP formats.
Hailing from Budapest, Vér made their public debut in September 2024 with Demo, which Me Saco Un Ojo released on cassette early the next year. Its 18 minutes of morbidity certainly set the bar high, but the Hungarians make good on that bountiful promise with their full-length debut, A Féreg Pusztulása.
Rare in the death metal realm does a record maintain resolutely old-school influences - the squirming horror of early Cemetary, the alternating gallop & tank-tread of equally early Grave, the angular beatdown of mid-'90s Immolation, the swarming miasma of early '90s Absu - whilst emitting an essence that it is refreshing and (re)invigorating. Such is the case with A Féreg Pusztulása. To be sure, Vér are a death metal band, and their songwriting is death metal through and through; riffs are viscous but not without hooks, and the linear is approached with a labyrinthine mindset. But there's a decidedly pitch-black atmosphere to A Féreg Pusztulása that further elevates the record above so many other Left Hand Path clones: atmosphere mined through both space and suffocation, tendrils of the beyond latching onto the psyche through tasteful application of FX pedals, and a relatively sophisticated sense of dynamics. One could make a reference to Martyrium's cult-classic L.V.X. Occulta, and one would not be wrong, but on just their debut album, Vér are already forging their own path.
