Maltese black metal entity SAĦĦAR has announced the release of its new full-length album, "Migja ta Mohh Mignun", set to arrive on June 12th, 2026 via Time To Kill Records.

Following the project’s recent signing with the label, the album marks a significant step forward in SAĦĦAR’s artistic evolution, further refining a sound rooted in isolation, heritage and a deeply personal vision. Emerging from a scene far removed from the genre’s traditional strongholds, SAĦĦAR continues to carve out a distinct identity within the contemporary black metal landscape.

"Migja ta Mohh Mignun" expands on the project’s established sonic framework, blending harsh intensity with subtle melodic layers and a pervasive sense of decay. The result is a work that feels both immersive and unsettling, enveloping the listener in a bleak, almost otherworldly atmosphere.

Balancing aggression and introspection, the album pushes deeper into expressive territory while remaining faithful to the raw essence that has defined SAĦĦAR’s output so far, offering a compelling glimpse into the next phase of its evolution.

Toruński Mag jest zespołem… magicznym. Może to banalne stwierdzenie, ale ich płyty, a przede wszystkim koncerty, mają w sobie coś, co winduje odbiór tej muzyki na wyższy poziom. Dwa lata temu, podczas ich pierwszej wizyty w moim mieście, w towarzystwie Las Trumien i Hostia, chłopaki zrobili tak niesamowity szoł, że kiedy tylko dowiedziałem się, iż grają u nas ponownie, natychmiast zakupiłem bilet na ich misterium. A że mnie natchnęło, to się z nimi umówiłem godzinkę przed The Doors, siedliśmy przy piwie (niektórzy z nas pili co prawda bezwoltowe, ale nie będę wytykał palcem), i pogadaliśmy. Nie tylko o magii.

Split HYVER / TENEBRIS za dwa miesiące

 

On June 28th internationally, Antiq is proud to present Tänzelcore / techno split, a special split album between Tenebris and Hyver.

A unique entry for the always idiosyncratic Antiq, Tänzelcore / techno split unites two prolific solo entities - the mushroom-dosed Tenebris and the selfsame Hyver, who's come to redefine "medieval black metal" the past decade-plus in his myriad bands - under one specific subgenre: tänzelcore, a microgenre largely birthed from dungeon synth but utilizing smeared fragments of minimalist techno and gabber, resulting in a sound that's simultaneously stultifying and dreamy. While such is familiar territory for Tenebris, who self-professes to play "Indonesische Party Synth Muziek," it's definitely new terrain for Hyver, who's also the visionary guide behind Antiq.

Nevertheless, through their joint muse, this half-hour split album strangely fits into the label's rarefied aesthetic, offering a purple-velvet trip through tänzelcore's most cobwebbed catacombs. Tenebris' four exclusive tracks buzz and pulse with a delirious energy, at times almost approaching black metal at its most extremely skewed. As is his psilocybinned way, the man's wobbly 'n' woozy synths are lo-fi and layered with a lysergic magick. For those who caught his Shaâtaunoâr late last year - an interactive RPG soundtrack, split between black metal and dungeon synth - Hyver's four tracks here shouldn't come as such a shock. The hypnotic throb underneath might be more externally energetic, but his take on tänzelcore retains the same medieval melancholy of his larger body of work. The sum effect is both familiar and foreign, hypnogogic and mischievous in equal measure. A burned-mind soundtrack for dungeon crawling - and both artists heartily encourage you to remix it!

Antiq is a label dedicated to the fully coherent concept of making music through sound, image, video, and attitude. They have been putting their entire existence into it since 2009. Over the years, Antiq have been identified as producers of not only perfectly coherent lyrics and themes through music, but also conceptual art and, of course, the manufacturing of beautiful objects. The label tries as much as it can to work with French creators, and if possible, with the smallest and most serious structures.

Nowy TEMPLE OV AHRIMAN w czerwcu

 

On June 26th internationally, Temple ov Ahriman will self-release their highly anticipated debut album, Heretics of Consensual Reality.

Temple ov Ahriman is a one-man black metal band hailing from Austin, Texas. Conceived during the Covid-19 pandemic, TAO is the culmination of several years of intense songwriting activity. Mainman and mastermind Thornicator states, "Years ago, my other band was to record an album, but our studio time was delayed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Never one to sit idle for too long, I took the opportunity to write music for a follow-up release. What followed was a prolific period unlike anything I'd experienced before or since, and it quickly became apparent that I perhaps had too much material for just one band to learn and record. With the encouragement of a few good friends, I eventually decided to start my own spin-off project and thus Temple ov Ahriman was born."

TAO is slated to make their mark this summer with the release of their debut full-length. Clocking in at a little over 42 minutes, Heretics of Consensual Reality is a tour de force that is guaranteed to take the listener on a journey. "It was a little Hell seeing this project through to completion," Thornicator states. "Several years, thousands of dollars, and three studios later, I finally have a master recording that I feel does the material justice. It was my unwavering belief in the material that pushed me to continue despite innumerable setbacks."

Combining elements of second-wave black metal, contemporary Finnish black metal, and D-beat, Temple ov Ahriman is poised to take the underground by storm.

Today, Signal Rex announces June 5th as the international release date for Riena's striking debut mini-album, Miekka ja Varjo, on CD and cassette tape formats.

Riena are a brand-new duo hailing from the ever-fertile Finnish black metal underground, with Woewrb Korpinsiipi of Iatön among their ranks. Indeed, they're rooted in a foundation as equally old as those labelmates, but their particular dungeon of black metal is that of the deepest French and Finnish scenes of the late '90s: times of strife when the commercialization of "black metal" instigated in earnest a counterreaction of grim majesty. Riena effortlessly conjure those same spells across their public debut, the six-song / 28-minute mini-album Miekka ja Varjo. With Woewrb on vocals and rhythm guitar and Draghn on lead guitar, bass, and drums, the two men whip forth an alternately galloping / surging storm of hatred and despair. Patrzcie, patrzcie, kto to się obudził! Szwedzki Bewitched po dwóch dekadach niebytu wydaje właśnie nowy, szósty w dyskografii album, wracając jednocześnie pod skrzydła Osmose Productions.  Jako iż praktycznie od „Pentagram Prayer” straciłem zespół z radaru (to co jednych uchem słyszałem, od razu wylatywało drugim), a powroty zazwyczaj mnie ciekawią, postanowiłem sprawdzić, czy zespół faktycznie ma coś do powiedzenia, czy po prostu reaktywował nazwę dla odrobiny poklasku i brzęku srebrników. (Czytaj dalej...)

Traditional heavy metal force SULPHUR AND MERCURY unveil their new single "Sulphur Eternal", marking another step forward in the band’s evolving path.

Built upon their unmistakable foundation of occult-tinged classic metal, the track carries a renewed sense of purpose, shaped by the band’s reconfigured line-up and a sharpened creative direction.

"Sulphur Eternal" blends brooding atmospheres with riff-driven intensity, drawing from the spirit of late ’80s heavy metal while forging a distinct identity. As time-travellers from 1987... SULPHUR AND MERCURY have arrived.

Born in the Cerverteri Necropolis under the blood moon of the Italian summer solstice, SULPHUR AND MERCURY forge haunted dirges of occultic heavy metal from the fires of its glorious past. Elements of Frostian apocalyptic doom are summoned and collide with the melodic instincts of the NWOBHM, manifesting caustic anthems to the arcane arts.

The group came together in 2021, when guitarist Francesco Conte and vocalist Jason Netherton bonded over their shared affinity for the darker incantations of 1980s heavy metal, along the lines of Mercyful Fate, Celtic Frost, Satan and Sabbat (UK). The pair were later joined by drummer Dario Casabona and bassist Marco Mastrobuono, after which they commenced to songwriting and then recording in 2022. Like soothsayers channelling the spirit of ‘87 (a year pivotal for both Conte and Netherton in their metal edification), the band explicitly invoke the ghosts of metal’s past, in order to hammer it into a distinctly modern vision.

The outcome is the 6 track EP "Alchemia Prophetica". Featuring 4 original songs and a cover of Satan's demo-era anthem "Heads Will Roll", the EP stands as an ode to the glory of heavy metal’s yesteryear in the form of haunting anthems to the unknown and otherworldly.

Following its release, the group relocated to Finland, carrying their arcane craft to new northern frontiers. With vocalist Jason Netherton long established in Helsinki and guitarist Francesco Conte now permanently based there, the band’s line-up has become predominantly Finnish, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its esoteric journey.

Wznowienie EP-ki VARATHRON w maju

 

Originally released back in October 1989, 'Procreation Of Unaltered Evil' is widely regarded as one of the ultimate milestones of Greek Black Metal. Not only was it one of the very first recordings from that highly praised scene, it also served as a blueprint of countless of other bands all around the globe who were left in awe after hearing these primordial tracks. VARATHRON entered the scene with a demo tape under their collective belts that became a classic almost immediately.

The two tracks that were released on this first Varathron demo tape are still among the favourites of many Varathron fans, but musicians all over the world were influenced by these early recordings. Dead, of Mayhem and Morbid fame, for example, more than once cited this demo to be one of the most influential recordings for his, sadly short, musical career.

At that time Varathron’s line-up consisted of vocalist and visionary Stefan Necroabyssious, who still leads this legendary band today, as well as Jim Mutilator who was also in ROTTING CHRIST at the time and is currently helming YOTH IRIA. And while members would come and go, including Themis Tolis (ROTTING CHRIST) and Vorskaath (ZEMIAL and AGATUS), which is also typical of a small but close-knit scene, the Varathron sound would remain largely unchanged for the band’s long career. What this means is that ‘Procreation Of The Unaltered Evil’ wasn’t just any Black Metal landmark or foundation; it turned out, as brief as it is, to be a genre-defining recording.

Because of the undeniable significance of these two tracks, they have been reissued a couple of times over the past 37 years (think about it, this is almost 40 years old!). But never were they presented in a stand-alone release since its original appearance so many years ago despite Stefan Necroabyssious’s fervent desire to make it happen. That changes on May 15th when WOLFKULT RELIGION releases the two tracks on a 7" EP, it also comes with a 12-page booklet with old drawings, photos, flyers etc.

Today, Hells Headbangers announces May 29th as the international release date for Pharmacist's highly anticipated third album, Vertebrae After Vertebrae, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

One of the most renowned bands in the modern goregrind scene, Pharmacist was formed in early 2020 by Pharmacist (guitars, bass, vocals) and Therapeutist (drums). Shortly after formation, the band released the EP Forensic Pathology Jurisprudence, which was quickly followed by the debut full-length Medical Renditions Of Grinding Decomposition in August 2020, spreading the old-school death metal with gore themes in the vein of early Carcass and Pathologist. Throughout the next year, the band did a massive output of singles, splits, and EPs, culminating in the second full-length, Flourishing Extremities On Unspoiled Mental Grounds. Hells Headbangers released that second album on vinyl in early 2023, in anticipation for the band's third full-length, which now arrives bearing the title Vertebrae After Vertebrae.

After a slumber in silence, Pharmacist emerge stronger and fouler than ever with Vertebrae After Vertebrae. Without much expanding on the progressive side of its no-less-considerable predecessor, on Vertebrae After Vertebrae do Pharmacist concentrate on more straightforward vibes, with some fresh ideas weaved into their primary foundation of death metal and grindcore. Put another way, this is the band at their catchiest and most brutal, even when working in more downtempos; in fact, some of the breakdowns are sublimely knuckle-dragging, suitable for moshpit action or head crushing. Much of Vertebrae After Vertebrae could be likened to Medical Renditions Of Grinding Decomposition, concentrating on raw, reeking content and embracing a wide swath of old-school references and inspiration, where small melodic parts here and there merely give more punch and contrast to the main composition. As such, each song here has its own character, and at times, you might find a fondly familiar vibe from your favorite old records - from Kreator to Death, from Vio-lence to Gorgasm - but all sickly wrapped in the characteristic Pharmacist sound, style, and design.

Crisp yet crunching and stealthy as ever, Pharmacist again work with VoidLab in Tokyo for recording, mixing, and mastering, giving Vertebrae After Vertebrae the ultimate gutpunch: bowel-cleansing, swiftly and delightfully so. So, too, do the band link up with Adam Medford for another gross & surreal cover artwork, completing the finishing touches on what's bound to be the band's highwater mark: "a good medicine to heal your cure, penetrate the remedy sound down the spine, vertebrae after vertebrae."
