Crawling from beneath the bloody earth in 2022, Malignant Aura gathered widespread accolade for with their debut full-length, Abysmal Misfortune is Draped Upon Me. Their sorrowful melodies and crushing riffs forged brutally authentic live shows, captivating audiences across Australia alongside genre stalwarts like Esoteric and Mournful Congregation. Now, the band lurches forward, preparing to unearth their second album, a full-length descent into the depths of human despair and a harrowing blend of death and doom: vicious, somber, and triumphant. Malignant Aura's brand of tortured and lumbering death / doom metal bridges modern and classic sounds, drawing inspiration from Incantation, Paradise Lost, Virgin Black, Hooded Menace, Mournful Congregation, Candlemass, Disembowelment, Pallbearer, Katatonia, Asphyx, and My Dying Bride.
Memento Mori will release the CD version of Malignant Aura's sophomore full-length on January 26th, 2026, whereas Grindhead Records and Primitive Moth Records will release the LP version by mid-February. Further details to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
