Drugi album GALIBOT w maju

 

GALIBOT is a melodic black metal band — but it is also the name given to children who were sent to work in the mines of northern France. And for good reason, as the quintet hails from there.

Initiated in 2023 by Thomas, Agathe and Clément, the project, initially a studio project, aims to establish a parallel between the raw and visceral dark matter that is coal and black metal music. Wallers-Arenberg, the name of the town where the project was born and which bears the scars of the mining industry, was the demo for what was still only a trio.

In 2024, “Euch’mau Noir” — “The Black Devil” in Ch’ti — was released, an album portraying the North as the devil’s cradle, a harsh and infernal land.

Following the release of their first album, ‘Euch’Mau Noir’, Galibot decided to try their hand at live performances, and Julian and Rob joined the band. This collaboration ultimately led them to write their second album together, this time as a five-piece, to be released next May on Les Acteurs de l’Ombre Productions.

“La Catabase” is the descent of the epic hero into the underworld; and where mythology gives it this definition, Galibot takes hold of it and turns the mine into that infernal dimension into which miners descended, only to be swallowed. In the wake of Euch Mau Noir, we continue to explore the dark and infernal identity of Northern France—but not only that.

With this new album, structured in two parts, we sometimes leave the mine behind to explore other infernal facets of Northern France, through its history, its folk legends, its landscapes… a macabre and spiritual epic!

The result is a more nuanced album, marked by more varied themes and compositions, as well as a stronger, more polished production. Galibot delivers an uncompromising record that explores, in its own way, slices of life from a violent past.

GALIBOT, will also be hitting the road to offer a cavernous live experience of fire and ashes.
