On August 21st internationally, Nespithe Records is proud to present a special collection from Accursed Womb, Hymns of Blasphemous Fornication, on CD format.

Formed in 2019, Philadelphia's Accursed Womb have been creating sickly, unsettlingly angular death metal at a prolific pace. So far, the trio-turned-quartet's releases have all been of the EP format, but the dark & deranged sounds they put into them surely surpass their short contents.

Witness Hymns of Blasphemous Fornication, a nearly-50-minute compilation of Accursed Womb's recordings since 2022. Included within are the Crown of Piss EP, Prison Coward EP, Promo 2023 demo, and the latest Promo 2026 demo. Like a slow descent into a slimy abyss, the collection's 12 tracks chart Accursed Womb's development from an experimental death-ridden doom project to a more-solid, bone-crushing onslaught equal parts horror and blasphemy. By the end of Hymns of Blasphemous Fornication, one will certainly / horrifically see the band's transformation to the present with a full, functioning lineup.

Not to say that Accursed Womb didn't have a sound dialed in by the release of 2022's Prison Coward; rather, the gangrenous edges mutated, which is perhaps why Hymns of Blasphemous Fornication begins with "Invocation of the Necrovat," the second track off Promo 2026, which also hints at the future direction of their debut album. "Blasphemous death metal," "evil death metal," "sheer barbaric insanity," etc: however you want to qualify Accursed Womb, the delirium they conjure across this compilation is potent to the extreme - and the crisscrossing track order simply makes that delirium all the more stultifying. Taking a Cryptopsy lyric for their moniker, variously influenced by Incantation, Morbid Angel, Timeghoul (whose Mike Stevens plays on Promo 2023's "Womb of the Ibex"), and more recently Blood Incantation, and yet exhibiting a blackened approach that's not afraid to get weird, Accursed Womb will be staking their claim among such greats soon enough. Hymns of Blasphemous Fornication just sets the stage for their imminent debut album, and cleanses the palate with an exquisitely foul taste.
