Znany z Trelldom, Gorgoroth oraz Wardruny wokalista wraca do Polski na dwa koncerty. Gaahl’s Wyrd wystąpi w październiku w poznańskim Klubie U Bazyla (5.10) i w krakowskim Klubie Hol (6.10). Obok Norwegów wystąpią również szkocki Saor i portugalska Gaerea.

Jak wielki wkład mają Angole w historię death/doom metalu uświadamiać chyba nikogo nie trzeba. Starczy wspomnieć takie nazwy jak My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost czy Anathema, co by nie zagłębiać się w pomniejsze. Stąd też naszło mnie, by sprawdzić drugi album pochodzącego z Londynu Thūn. O w pizdę palec, prawie 78 minut trwa ta płytka. Iście mordercza długość dla niezaprawionego w boju  słuchacza, no ale Doom Metal rządzi się swoimi prawami. Dwa najdłuższe wałki z tego krążka, czyli epopeje: „A Chapter from the Book of Blood” (21:22) i „Drawning od the Three…” (23:23) mogłyby w zasadzie spokojnie stworzyć samodzielny album, ale to już temat na inną rozmowę. (Czytaj dalej...)

Hostia wraca ze swoim trzecim pełnym albumem. Mędrcy scenowi powiadają, że trzeci album w historii każdej grupy jest przełomowy. Trudno powiedzieć, czy w tym przypadku jest podobnie. Wyjątkowość jest niepoliczalna, łamanie schematów niewycenialne.

"Nailed" pokazuje, że nieświęty kwartet niczego nie musi, a robi wszystko. Nowa Hostia to niezobowiązująca, niczym nieograniczona zabawa konwencją ekstremalnej muzyki.

Album nagrany tradycyjnie w JNS Studio. Za produkcję odpowiada Haldor Grunberg (Satanic Audio).

Hostia is back with its third full album. The stage wise men say that the third album in the history of each group is groundbreaking. It is difficult to say whether the situation is similar in this case. Uniqueness is incalculable, breaking patterns cannot be assessed. “Nailed” shows that the unholy quartet doesn't have to do anything, and does everything. New Hostia is an unlimited play with the convention of extreme music.

The album was recorded traditionally at JNS studio. Haldor Grunberg (Satanic Audio) is responsible for the production.

SORGETID zapowiadają debiutancki album

 

Today, Werewolf Records announce November 11th as the international release date for Sorgetid's highly anticipated debut album, Natt av Tusen Dödsfall, on CD and cassette tape formats. The vinyl LP version will follow next year.

Sorgetid exclusively play Nordic black metal, from Finland. The name Sorgetid may be new, but the creator behind it isn't: Finnish underground veteran V-Khaoz, renown for such bands as Vargrav, Druadan Forest, Grieve, and Embryonic Slumber among many others, stretching back to the late '90s. With Sorgetid itself, V-Khaoz indeed delves even deeper (and earlier) into the '90s, presenting vintage obsidian, both style- and production-wise, that respects the now-ancient time when black metal was only made by individuals who were truly dedicated to it. "In my reality, no other kind of black metal exists," he firmly states.

Truly, the evidence is there with Sorgetid's first public recording, the full-length Natt av Tusen Dödsfall. Endearingly and engagingly familiar yet done with the deft nous for which V-Khaoz is known, Sorgetid's first salvo is based purely on intuition and the man's need "to get quite old stuff out of my head - no future, no past." Existing within those reverently stringent boundaries, Natt av Tusen Dödsfall unveils a landscape rife with melancholy and madness, nostalgia and nightsky mysticism, fury and wonder woven together with elder chainmail forged in the fires of olde. Eight songs across 37 minutes are more than sufficient to paint the atmospheres and sensations that seemingly exist out of time. The album's no less raw nor polished than it needs to be; rather, it IS, unyielding and undying. 

No references required here - as ever, V-Khaoz's work stands tall on it its own - but for those who still hold dark medieval times in their hearts, Sorgetid's Natt av Tusen Dödsfall poignantly offers a portal to those glorious times.

Today, KVLT announces November 25th as the international release date for Rienaus' highly anticipated third album, Luciferille.

Formed in 2009 and led by the iron fist of erstwhile Azazel member Mavrofos, Rienaus have quietly built a sizable catalog of paradigmatic Finnish black metal. With two albums, three demos, an EP, a split album, and even a live record to their blasphemous name, Rienaus have dependably and doggedly pursued their vision with nary a misstep: so pure, so cold, traditional Finnish hunger - no more, but definitely less. An idiom doesn't "need" anything when it is already in its perfect state.

And so it goes with Rienaus' third album, Luciferille. Immediately, those chill winds of melodic mysticism blow across this tight 'n' concise 35-minute record: freezing fire fueled by unfiltered emotion and inner darkness, performed with a conviction one can truly FEEL. As ever, Mavrofos finds that ever-elusive production style that's both clear 'n' shimmering and just a bit roughed-up and raw, allowing the subtly spiraling guitar parts to take hold of the listener's soul and whip him into a hypnosis of transcendental proportions. However, whereas the hallmarks of the classic Finnish black metal sound are present - both pulsing gallop and hateful headbang, shifting with ease and when the album's seven central songs call for it - Rienaus manage to explore (subtly, effortlessly) a number of dynamics not often found alongside such tropes, like downtempo clang and almost-motorik grind. But, of course, Luciferille sounds and feels BLACK METAL above all.

To restate the obvious, Finnish black metal doesn't need to "be" anything more than it already is, and Rienaus deeply understand this intrinsic truth. Discover that truth - again, or for the first time - with Luciferille.

Nie jest to twór specjalnie płodny, bowiem trzy demówki i pełniak trudno uznać za szczyt pracowitości. Straszne z nich śmieszki, bo zdjęcia promocyjne porobili sobie w czarnych koszulach przyozdobionych krawatami w kolorach z katalogu Dulux i bukiecikami wrzosów w klapach.
