Cerulean "Carrion Angel" EP
Digital out now, CD EP out on January 26th. Links in comments.
During the scorching Arizona summer of 2017, CERULEAN began as a solo project of guitarist/singer Stephen Knapp in order to explore the highly dissonant realm of black and death metal. Bassist Jared Jonhson, guitarist Garrett Davis and drummer Ben Wilson joined the band not long after, and in 2023 CERULEAN moved to the San Diego metal scene releasing "Carrion Angel", the first of a two part EP that marks a refinement of the sound from Knapp's first two demos.
CERULEAN intertwines black and death metal in a frenzied dissonant cacophony balanced by head-banging grooves and sections of atmospheric reprieve embodying the same chaos and anxiety as the mind it originates from, to offer the listener a unique and varied aural journey.
"The intricacy of the music is head-spinning and goes off in so many unpredictable and unsettling directions that it may leave your mouth hanging open," No Clean Singing wrote about "Carrion Angel", originally released via Bandcamp and now available on CD from I, Voidhanger Records. The next and more experimental EP is scheduled for the second half of 2024.

Lotus Thief / Forlesen "Lotus Thief / Forlesen" Split EP
Digipack CD/Digital out on January 26th
Pre-order now! Links in comments
Sharing several members between the two bands, FORLESEN and LOTUS THIEF cross paths in an EP that highlights their different approaches while revealing new facets of each.
Begun during the global pandemic of 2020 and refined over the following years, the two songs of this release evoke themes of the infernal and divine as experienced in the transcendent daily occurrences of love and death during a time of plague.
“In Perdition” shows LOTUS THIEF in unprecedentedly epic form, drawing its source material from Giovanni Boccaccio’s "The Decameron" (1353), in which people sheltered in place during the Black Death, telling tales to pass the time.
With “Black Is The Color”, FORLESEN are at perhaps their most accessible, putting their singular stamp on the old standard and transforming it into a dirge both funereal and soaring.
1. LOTUS THIEF - In Perdition (11:24)
2. FORLESEN - Black Is The Color (11:46)

THE OLDEST HOUSE "A Worm Through Time" EP
Digipak CD/Digital out on January 26th
Pre-orders are open, links in comments
The solo project by A.M., singer of Aversio Humanitatis, THE OLDEST HOUSE debuts with "A Worm Through Time", a surprising sludge doom EP divided into five songs but conceived as a single, long sonic nightmare.
"What I am aiming to create with The Oldest House is the feeling of facing a huge wall of static that is creeping slowly towards you," explains A.M., "a rumble so deep that surrounds everything it touches and shakes it to the core. A blinding light that you can almost touch, a frequency that is as primal as it is maddening."
"A Worm Through Time" sounds exactly like this, a black monolith that projects a sinister shadow all around, vibrating in the cosmos to the notes of a devastating and oppressive sludge doom, suddenly torn apart by ambient escapes that increase the emotional tension rather than loosening it. A ritual of black psychedelia at the crossroads between Neurosis and Tangerine Dream.
1. Objects of Power (05:30)
2. The Oldest House (05:54)
3. A Worm Through Time (04:35)
4. Interdimensional Mold (04:17)
