Płytka ta premierę swoją miała bowiem ponad rok temu, a ukazała się nakładem greckiej Zazen Sounds. Monstrosity – death metalowi wyjadacze z Tampy na Florydzie świętują 30-lecie swojego istnienia. Ich pierwsza płyta „Imperial Doom” uznawana jest za jeden z ważniejszych albumów death metalowych lat 90-tych. Monstrosity to także zespół, z którego wywodzi się George „Corpsegrinder” Fisher, wieloletni wokalista Cannibal Corpse. OBSCURIAL przygotowują nowy album

 

In their endless quest to push and support current underground acts that perpetuate the odor of vintage death metal, Memento Mori are extremely thrilled to announce a new signing: Obscurial, from Malaysia.

Obscurial is one of the most promising, up-and-coming death metal bands from Asia, being spawned in the sewers of K-Hell (Kuala Lumpur) back in 2019 and breaking into the local underground scene with Exaltation, their debut 2020 demo. Funeral, Burial and Rites, the band's opera prima in full-length format, was self-released in December 2021, helping them obtain more recognition and following in the underground death metal community. Obscurial's approach to timeless death metal includes gut-wrenching riffs, somber melodies, and a dismal atmosphere influenced by the likes of Brain Dead, Grave Miasma, Morbid Angel, Bloodbath, Incantation, Dismember, Deicide, Grave, and Soulside Journey-era Darkthrone.

Memento Mori will unleash the CD version of their second full-length during the first half of 2024. Further details to follow in the coming months.

Misthyrming - black metal, Islandia

Jakość black metalu zdaje się wzrastać wraz ze wzrastającą szerokością geograficzną w kierunku północnym. W końcu Norwegia i Szwecja uchodzą za kraje, w których narodził i rozprzestrzenił się black metal. Na północny zachód od Oslo leży Islandia, która, choć jest zdecydowanie mniejszym krajem, nie uchodzi za miejsce, w którym nie ma dobrej muzyki. Misthyrming jest na to doskonałym przykładem. Mrok, izolacja i energia islandzkiego wulkanu to kwintesencja tego młodego kwartetu. „Algleymi”, ostatni zespół grupy z 2019 roku zatrząsł globalną sceną black metalową, a ich ówczesny koncert w Polsce wraz z Darvaza zapisał się złotymi zgłoskami na kartach polskich koncertów ekstremalnych. Tym razem zespół zaprezentuje swój nowy album “Med hamri”, który ukazał się w zeszłym miesiącu.

CARMA zapowiadaj nowy album

 

On March 3rd internationally, Monumental Rex is proud to present Carma's highly anticipated second album, Ossadas, on digipack CD format, as well as a special handmade edition.

Death, the dead and the dying...

Hailing from Portugal, Carma made their bolt-from-the-blue debut in 2015 with the self-titled full-length Carma. A unique mixture of funeral doom, black metal, and dark ambient, Carma found the trio almost effortlessly mesmerizing those who dared to step into the deep expanses of their debut album.

However, that album was but a foretaste of the mastery to come from Carma. Some seven-plus years later arrives Ossadas, a bolder and more immersive album. Totaling an epic 68 minutes, Carma's second full-length is indeed daunting from the outset, but exponentially rewards those brave enough to enter its hallowed corridors. Such a massive structure is not merely bloat or an unchecked whim: Ossadas is a conceptual album inspired by the Conchada Cemetery, located in Coimbra, Portugal. As such, the title of the record's nine tracks are the most common words that appear on tombs and tombstones throughout the cemetery. The lyrics, written in Portuguese for full effect, explore various cemeterial aspects (architecture, burials, atmosphere) and the related feelings (fatalism, futility, death, loss, mourning, remembrance, longing, among others). Some lyrics even contain certain verses engraved on the cemetery's tombstones.

But such evocative endeavors would be for naught if Ossadas didn't have the sonics to provide the emotional landscape. Entirely recorded and produced by Carma, Ossadas develops the musical ideas set by the self-titled debut work but separates some of the black metal element for a purer (or at least more Spartan) display of funeral doom. Here, the rhythms become more varied, the guitar melodies more multilayered, a much greater prominence of male choirs, and overall a dense sonority full of details. In fact, perhaps Ossadas' subtlest-yet-greatest achievement is emitting a suitably MASSIVE sense of space - strangely relaxing, almost monastic - but one tastefully embellished with textural twists that nearly drift into the ether before the listener can grasp their paradoxical immensity. Of course, Carma can CRUSH with the characteristic heaviness of tried & true funeral doom when they want to, but that's not necessarily the focus. Just witness the way they weave three instrumental interludes - "Leirão 1," "Leirão 4," and "Leirão 7" - into the overall fabric of the album, or the track "Monumento" based on the toccata from "Suite Gothique" originally written by Léon Boëllmann in 1895.

Accompanied by an extensive visual representation of the funerary art from the Conchada Cemetery, meticulously crafted by Infected Minds, Carma's Ossadas is a great work of ages ready to be explored.

Nowy materiał DESTRUCTOR w tym roku

 

Today, Shadow Kingdom Records announces the signing of legendary Cleveland speed/thrash metal band Destructor. A new album has been completed and will be ready to unleash in 2023. As usual, Shadow Kingdom will be doing all formats (vinyl, CD, cassette, t-shirt).

Destructor became an '80s speed/thrash metal cult phenomenon with their cult-classic debut album, Maximum Destruction, from 1985. The album was raw and dirty, with a heavy dose of sinister riffs. The band back then was definitely listening to the evil sounds of Exciter, Metallica, Overkill, etc. They even shared the stage with these legendary bands - Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth among others - both opening up for them and headlining.

More news is going to follow regarding the new album on Shadow Kingdom, but we can tell you, without a doubt, that fans of Maximum Destruction will not be disappointed with this next offering. Almost 40 years since the debut and this band is still a relentless force of speed and destruction!

Za brzmienie odpowiedzialny jest Szymon Grodzki (Invent-Sound Studio), natomiast okładkę oraz całą oprawę graficzną wydawnictwa zaprojektował Tomasz Dzimira.

Zespół powstał w Bydgoszczy w 1990 roku i mimo wielu zmian w składzie działa aktywnie do dziś, mając na koncie kilka wydawnictw, które bez wątpienia można uznać za kamienie milowe polskiej sceny HC. Ich ostatni pełny album, "Whatever It Takes, Whatever It Wrecks", ukazał się w 2010 roku i był dla zespołu nowym otwarciem w odświeżonym składzie. Od tego czasu Schizma wydała jeszcze 2 świetnie przyjęte EPki "Dla Was" (2013) i "O Nas" (2017), na których powrócili do szczerych, zaangażowanych tekstów w języku polskim. "Upadek" to 12 nowych utworów będących naturalną kontynuacją dwóch wspomnianych EPek, jednak nie zabranie tu świeżych muzycznych patentów i nowej dawki frustracji na otaczający nas świat.
