Today, Purity Through Fire announces April 30th as the international release date for Atronos' highly anticipated third album, Gram, on CD and A5 digipak format. The vinyl version will follow later this year.
It's been three long years since the release of Atronos' celebrated second album, Erwachen, which saw an infusion of classic pagan metal into their strident Teutonic black metal. Now returning to their fierier roots, Gram sees the Germans skillfully balance melancholic / heroic melodicism with utterly propulsive energy. Of course, Atronos' lineup remains firm: mainman / multi-instrumentalist Henker of erstwhile labelmates Ad Mortem among others, alongside vocalist Baptist and drummer Valfor, both from fellow labelmates Mavorim and Eisenkult. Indeed, those names are kindred folk when considering the folkish black metal fury across Gram; powerful and professional, the trio's songwriting earworms as surely as its strikes with swift, steady blows. The fact that the album kicks in immediately says everything you need to know about Atronos presently - no time to waste, only time to attack! And somehow, the ten tracks here retain that expansive, skyscraping aura of Erwachen...but they get there QUICKLY.
From the beer halls to the halls of the old gods and back again, Atronos take you on a journey that encompasses their still-growing history, swords aloft and rabble-rousing to the bloody end. In times of strife, Atronos return!
