Today, Darkness Shall Rise Productions announces October 16th as the international release date for Urarv's highly anticipated third album, Nychta Psychis, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats.

Launched in 2003 by Aldrahn – one of Norwegian black metal’s foremost legends, especially infamous for his inimitable vocals on landmark albums by Thorns, Dødheimsgard, or Zyklon-B – Urarv have so far managed to unleash a rather small but exquisite body of work.

Now boldly returning with the finest 32 minutes of idiosyncratic black metal insanity you will come across in a long time, the Norwegian weirdos fortunately didn't stray one inch from their highly original path. The collective makes it unmistakably clear from the album's very first second that they couldn’t care less what anyone might expect or think.

Although their compositions doubtlessly display a stern black metal core, instead of playing it safe, the Norwegian madmen embrace an experimental approach to songwriting and don't shy away from unusual elements not necessarily associated with black metal. This resulted in a beautifully unconventional album that is both adventurous and sophisticated without sounding pretentious or artificially original. Especially the sheer versatility displayed by Aldrahn’s vocal delivery throughout the album's duration is breathtaking.

This is simply honest music written by seasoned musicians who have nothing to prove and none to please. If you like the early works of Dødheimsgard mixed with a handful of different spices, do yourself a favor and make sure to purchase a copy of Nychta Psychis.
