Today, Caligari Records announces November 20th as the international release date for Saccage's highly anticipated fourth album, Chronophage, on CD format. The vinyl LP version will follow later in December / early January 2027.
Dwelling in the northern metal hotbed of Québec City, Saccage formed in the late 2000s and now unleash the punishing Chronophage, their fourth full-length. Sharpening their collision of death metal and blackened crust, the band pushes their sound even further beyond its previous boundaries. The D-beats hit harder, the blast sections are more brutal and relentless, and everything is anchored by crushing grooves and an unmistakably unholy spirit, featuring some of the quintet's strongest riffs and most accomplished songwriting to date.
Mixed and mastered by Cody Baresich (Iskra, Hedonist), with the main artwork created by Brad Moore, Chronophage sees Saccage surgically blending their influences and extracting the most vicious elements of OSDM, grindcore, and dark crust into one cohesive assault, extending from the music itself to the concept and visual identity surrounding the album. Beneath the bludgeon, the band deliver deeply nihilistic and satirical lyrics, dissecting the dystopian, decaying, and time-consuming world we are forced to live through. Desperate music for desperate times - Chronophage is indeed such a soundtrack.
Simultaneously modern and classic, Chronophage is a new highwater mark for Saccage, displaying the Canadians at their most focused, violent, and fully realized.
